does the box flop around when you pull the wrap out? It looks light.

iI is light ,very light, flimsy and flops around CARDBOARD. The slider cutter broke off in under 1 year. highly recommend don't buy. emailed seller NEVER RESPONDED!

Can you put put a regular roll of Saran Wrap from the store in it?

Yes but not costco brand it's too large for it the cling wrap is good

does this work with aluminum foil?

They make chic wrap contained specifically for aluminum foil but it should specify that is what it’s for in the details
