Python Hatchet Splitting Axe American Hardwood Handle (650 Gms / 15" (380 MM))

Love the hatchet, I wanted a cheap bushcrafting axe. I first lightly sanded the hickory handle and rubbed to give the shape as per my grip. Made hole on the handle for 550 Para cord for safety and hanging, used to sliding knot to lock the axe around my wrist. Self made leather Sheath for safety, DIY Project. ( I did not like the rubber safety cap, which came with axe.The most i like in the axe is its grain orientation of the handle, It is the best and exactly the same the way it should be, facing towards the head of axe. I don't know how many people know this.The head is great. Sharpening was needed, I changed the profile of the blade and i love the way it goes into the wood. I used the rag method ( sand paper and leather. Dremel the handle, applied Mustard oil which darkened it from tan to brown. I used knife scraped the handle. Fun project feels great in hand. Highly recommended. Good value for money.

I needed an axe to chop off branches and small trees in my farm so I ordered this. Was delivered in time by India Post. I opened the package and held the axe in my hand and I was satisfied. The best i liked is the handle. The handle is aptly sized and 'kind of ergonomic' and makes the axe weight balanced. The handle is made out of quality wood (American hickory they claim, I have no prior experience or skill to verify this), better than handles I get locally. The axe head is nicely fitted to the handle, not shaking after a couple of uses, nicely crafted, edge was smooth and sharp and no cracklines or anything close to edge. About the sharpness, you can you use the axe right-out-of the packing and I was able to cut through medium thick branches (mainly mango trees, branches as thick as an average adult person's arm) in 2 - 3 strokes. But found difficulty with small trees, i think I need a heavier axe. But still this can axe can take a small sharpening. And very one admires my new axe :) I am so satisfied that i may buy one more as backup. I am giving 4 start, taking out 1 star for the sharpness.

The quality of this product is really very good. Finishing, durability all good. Nice product.

It is a nice piece. The packaging was not good (see the pictures). Looks sturdy metal and handle. I feel, it is the good one. The blade looks sharp enough. The blade has a rubber guard is damaged so unhappy. That is why I am giving 3 stars. They have to check the product before shipping ( it is very important). Amazon should be very careful to satisfy the customers.

Quality is good and easy to use

Its simply horrid product...totally blunt...i tried returning it but no refund policy...only replacement policy....since I have to send my product first before replacement and aleady paid full amount..i m not comfy with replacement policy

this is a lot of axe for what i paid. its a nice axe with a beautiful wooden handle. i cant say if its a genuine american hardwood as claimed by the seller but it looks good. in the picture u can see that its written ' genuine american hardwood' on the handle itself but in the actual product nothing is written of that sort. for me its not a deal breaker cause i care less for the writting. but their is one more con on the product which i must notify. in the product description its written that the axe is 16 inches long which is wrong , actually the axe is just 14 inches long. so this can again a deal breaker for some. but again not for me. remember this is a camp axe for light use dont expect to cut trees with this. overall i am happy with the axe n can recommend to others but only for light use. well i can only give 4 stars because its a 14 incher n not a 16 incher as claimed by the seller......got another one yesterday. the wooden handle looks great....
