Amazing Korma!
My wife and I have been trying to make a perfect korma from scratch that replicates the Indian restaurant experience, but we can't quite seem to nail it. Sadly, this "heat and eat" korma from Kitchens of India seems to get much closer to the mark than all of our made-from-scratch variants!Although not the healthiest meal, the KOI Navratan Korma is a very tasty meal than can be made instantly by pouring it in a bowl and popping it in a microwave. You can also mix together multiple bags and throw it on the stove for a few minutes if you're making a bigger meal. Personally, I like throwing in some pre-cooked, frozen chicken breast chunks to make a heartier meal.

Good but.... has gone downhill
I've been eating these for years. They are good. They taste good. But more recently, like with this last order, it has become more saucy, less paneer and almost zero cashews. There was no cottage cheese (paneer?). There were two cubes of potato. Exactly ONE cashew, broken in half. I mean, I get it, I KNOW that the image on the package is NOT what you are going to get, that it's a "suggestion". But c'mon, not even close! Mostly sauce with peas and carrots. Sad. Sadly sad. The only good thing about this was that it is no longer double packaged (outer box with aluminum bag inside). Now it is one plastic bag that you can microwave it in if you so desire. I still like this stuff, but... it's not what it once was.

A Healthy Staple Dish in my Kitchen
I buy these all the time in all varieties. They make fabulous meal starters for those of us who adore Indian food, but do not have the proper knowledge of spices to prepare it properly. I actually use these packets to add to several cups of veggies that I cook to stretch the portions much further, and get about 4 adult servings per packet once mixed in with my veggies. Its a super easy way to get that great Indian food flavor that you get at a restaurant, and they are super easy to pop open and use. The ingredients are very pure, without all kinds of chemical preservatives, and there is no high fructose corn syrup or other nasties.

Convenience, but not the right taste
I've had Navratan Korma in Indian restaurants for years, and this ain't it. It was kind of bitter and therefore not to my liking. Also, it seemed expensive for what I got. There would have been more, and cheaper, from my local Indian restaurant...and they aren't cheap!

UNTRUTHFUL : Spice Level 3-4 Peppers, marked as 1 Pepper
Terribly Spicy. Incorrectly Labeled. I can’t tolerate spicy foods as exacerbates GERD, and causes Bladder Urgency and excessive head perspiration. Kitchen of India is UNTRUTHFUL about the Heat in this product. They also cheat customers by using too few / too tiny cottage cheese cubes, too few vegetables, too few cashews, too little protein in this dish. KOI is trying to make purchasers ill by adding too much Sodium and Fat, just look at the % comparisons! Vegetarian KOI packaged meals sold on Amazon are too spicy, too salty, low in protein, high in fat. I’m canceling KOI subscriptions today.

Meh
These prepackaged curries are edible but not too tasty. Even by the low standards of Indian food in foil pouches. Do not even think of telling an actual Indian person this is any good. Really the only upside is that one of these just takes a couple minutes in the microwave to heat up, so if you need to eat RIGHT NOW and you don't much care what you eat, this could theoretically work. Though, if you absolutely must have curry in a pouch, I can think of at least one well-known private-label grocery store brand that is far better for roughly the same price if not cheaper. If you just want very fast food out of your own kitchen, there have got to be better alternatives.

Delicious camping food
Kitchens of India probably makes some of the better tasting ready-to-eat meals out there. They do seem to be a bit saltier than some other brands, though. My husband and I love these for when we don't feel like cooking but don't want to pay to eat out. I find they also make excellent camping food. We make couscous because that takes less fuel than rice, and then each pick and boil a packet of curry. It's the easiest way to get our veggies while in the desert for a week.

Very good product
Both my husband and I agreed that this was an excellent product. It tasted like a dish you would get in a restaurant. We regularly get the Tasty Bite products and this compared favorably. I served it over Quinoa with some chopped cashews. My husband added sour cream to his. I like to take these prepared foods in the camper, and even without the embellishments this would be a tasty dish.
