How to use the scented beads ?

I just hooked them (they come attached to a cardboard hook or you can use the ribbon) onto the rail in the wardrobe in-between the clothes so keep the wardrobe smelling fresh. I've also hooked them onto my curtain rods as a air Freshner in the room

Do i have to put them in oil or tahoe out from bag? or just hang in somewhere un the dar?
