BX300: Good enough, fast enough for normies from a reliable brand - benchmark-chasers look elsewhere
Review of BX300 480GB drive. Let me be frank. This is a budget drive that likely uses decent, reliable but not top of the line NAND. Things pricier drives will give you:- DRAM cache: ❌- Heat-sink metal casing good for sustained write performance: ❌- Bragging rights on read and write speed: ❌On the other hand, maybe you're not a benchmark chaser. Just a normie just looking for a decent drive that will do the things you want an SSD to do (better read/write speed and silent performance compared to HDDs) from a brand you can trust to stand behind the product if, heaven forbid, you get a lemon. If you're one of these people, I can wholeheartedly recommend this drive to you. I use it with Linux Mint on a 12th gen i5 equipped mini PC and I have zero complaints about performance. I don't have a stopwatch to tell you exact speeds, I'm not going to compare it with NVME drives or the best SSDs. I'm just going to tell you: It's plenty fast enough for normies.

Fantastic SSD, horrible cloning software.
I've been a longtime fan of Crucial memory products, so trying this SSD out to give my old P920 some new life was a no-brainer. It's a fantastic SSD, with excellent capacity and performance., The executive software that allows you to tweak various performance characteristics of the drive is great - make sure to download it from the Crucial site when you have it installed.Regrettably, my enthusiasm does not extend to Crucial's recommendation of the Acronis software for cloning your boot drive. It simply did not work for me. I was moving a 5 TB drive to the 4 TB drive. Only 1.1 TB of the original hard drive was in use, so it should have been no problem. But the Acronis software couldn't handle it - it said there wasn't enough room on the 4 TB Crucial drive to store the 1.1 TB of stuff from my HD!What's worse is that it took about 4 hours for the Acronis software to decide it couldn't do what I wanted. I was able to use the free utility, DiskGenius, to clone the drive. It worked great, cloning all the partitions, including the rescue partition, adjusting them proportionally. If you have trouble with Acronis, give this a try.

Easy upgrade blazing fast PC
I had issues using the recommended software Acronis I tried it multiple times and could not get my pc to boot when I installed this ssd inside my pc. I used another software that was free to clone my hard drive to this SSD. After installing my pc is blazing fast!! FYI I also upgraded the RAM from 8GB to 16GB $15 here on Amazon. So for less that $80 I upgraded a 10 year old Dell 5348 All in One and it runs faster than my work and personal laptops that are only few years old! Worth the money and not hard to DIY!

These drives are ok except on my ASUS ROG Strix Z690-E Motherboard
I pinpointed my issue with this drive to issues associated with the ASUS ROG Strix Z690-E Gaming WiFi Motherboard. The motherboard has been a nightmare with this Crucial SSD, on SATA/USB and SAS controllers.Note: I have been buying Asus motherboards for 20 years now, and this will be my last Asus product. I can only imagine what they will now do with the once very good Intel NUC product line.

Phenomenal!
I have an 8 year old work computer. I'm was hesitant to replace it as its a pain in the neck to get things the way you had them. So i tried this. I was replacing an old standard hard drive with this digital one. Wow What a difference. You cannot even come close to matching the speed of a digital hard drive compared to a traditional hard drive. This machine is faster than when i initially bought it.

So far so good. 2 TB of storage at a price that's hard to believe.
When it comes to SATA digital drives, especially Solid-State Drives (SSDs), the difference between pricey and cheap options often comes down to a few key factors that affect performance, durability, and overall quality.First up, NAND flash memory and controller play a crucial role. I used Blackmagic Disk Speed Test to get some results, but let it run for a while, and this drive can slow down quite a bit. It was only 34 MB per second! I saw a lot of videos and tutorials about problems with inexpensive SSDs that don’t have flash memory.I used this drive to create a backup startup disk for my Mac mini Pro. Honestly, I can’t tell a big difference between the startup time with the internal drive, which is incredibly fast, and this drive, which is supposed to be super slow. There are some performance differences, but they’re so minor for everyday use that I don’t notice them.Just to let you know, the maximum speed these drives can give is around 500 MB per second. After that, there are a lot of variables that can slow it down. I also had some problems where it would completely crash and fall off the desktop. My Mac mini took a long time to boot because it was repairing the disk. I was starting to get worried that it wouldn’t boot up, but it finally did, and I haven’t had any problems since. So far, I feel like I’ve beaten the odds! This drive has worked great for me.

No complaints!!
This drive is an excellent upgrade for those people with old spinning drives!! I have bought at least ten of these drives. I have had very good success with these dives . My people who have made the decision to put NEW LIFE in their older computers have very High Praise for the upgrade that these drives gave them! No complaints!!
