Verdana Extra Virgin Coconut Oil – USDA Organic, Unrefined Cold Pressed Oil for Baking and Cooking – 1 Gallon

I have been buying extra virgin coconut oil in bulk for years from a health food store. When they doubled the price I went looking… I found it! This coconut oil is very good quality and I am very pleased. The price is right for the amount you get, even cheaper then I originally was paying for before. I have several buckets in my pantry. It stay good for a very long time and has many uses. I cook with it, bake with it, and even use it as a moisturizer for my body and hair. It removes makeup too. I even make popcorn with it several times a week for a healthy snack.

Need to have a man around to open this container. Oil seems fine. Fried some chicken in it that was super crispy, but I had to wait until my male neighbor got home at 830p at night to open it for me because i couldn't open the bucket after the plastic pull strip was removed. It hurt my hands on the cutout tabbed lid. It even hurt with gloves on for protection to try to pry the tabs up and took more strength than i had. I was afraid when i closed it up that i wouldn't be able to open it again without my male neighbor, but gratefully, i was able to.

I use for everything cooking,skin,hair and it smells good. Only bad thing I can say product leaks out and box got coconut oil on it

After opening the container, filling the oil jar and licking the spoon, I consulted the reviews again. This time, the 1-star reviews. I kept detecting a taste that shifted between strongly plastic-y or petroleum-y. Reading another reviewer refer to this oil as tasting like motor oil, I recognized what I had been detecting. Other reviews mention plastic taste.Looking up organic food fraud and EMA (economically motivated adulteration) on Google, it soon became clear that an oil "made in India" and sent here for packaging was rife with opportunities for contaminations. Another producer commented on how he "makes 1,000 batches a year and the organic folks check only 3."You can connect the dots.This oil has no coconut oil smell or any taste, other than a very strong finish and aftertaste of plastic and petroleum (also, chemical extraction is done with hexane, a petroleum based product that evaporates when heated - IF heated). I needed to brush my teeth and tongue with soap to get rid of the taste. I tasted it once again and again my body said, "This isn't right...at all." So, in the trash it goes, money and all.This site continues to be an unvetted flea market who promotes unscrupulous dumping of unsafe "goods" upon its buyers.Don't try to save $10! Just buy the good company's oils for the slightly higher price - the oil that actually tastes as it should. It is just not worth it. If a company in a struggling country can cut money corners when nobody is checking, you think they won't? You think they care about your health???I should send this oil to a lab and have it tested. I am going to look into doing that. Also, on their website, is posted a liability disclaimer in an highly seen area. If someone was dealing honorably, they wouldn't do that. Just saying.There is no way in h*ll it is pure coconuts. Pure coconuts don't taste like plastic and motor oil.Caveat Emptor!
