Affordable and came in handy
This blanket came in handy during our recent camping trip up north. The weather turned out to be colder than what we expected. You won’t be able to fold it up nice and neat after using it but it was pretty durable. I folded it as small as i can and stuck it inside my sleeping bag in case if I need it next time. Will most likely buy again if I run out.

Each blanket is individually wrapped, and folded nice and tight.
Each blanket is individually wrapped, and folded nice and tight. 5 of them weigh quite a bit more then I expected. Unfortunately I do not have the means for an official measurement of weight. If you are super weight conscious in your BOB, I would not pack extras - only one for each person. I have a camping trip planned in a few weeks. Fall temps in WI can be unpredictable, but it is possible to hit zero overnight. Most likely, low 30's. I will use one of these for at least one night and report back. I update all my reviews as need be. 9.23.15***UPDATE*** I took one of these camping, and did devote one entire night to it. Keep in mind I had a tarp on the ground, tent on the tarp, and slept on top of my sleeping bag. When I went to bed I was all ready toasty warm from the fire and brandy, the temp was mid 50's (F). By first light, it was down to 36. I was PLENTY warm. BUT - this thing is noisy! Crinklecrinklecrinkle!!! Also, because it has no weight to it, you have to keep in tucked under your body to prevent cold air from creeping underneath it. However - neither of these complaints can be held against it as this is for survival. I am confident this would aide in my survival, and I would be glad I had it. It would certainly suffice until the fire is lit, shelter is built, better materials are found, etc....

These "blankets" are extremely lightweight.
They are very low cost and hopefully will help block the warm air from using the chimney effect of the stairway keeping the first floor warmer. Updating from yesterday...these blankets worked very well keeping the warm air downstairs and the difference between the two areas is remarkable. We put one blanket from the top of the staircase and brought it down the handrails and secured it snugly on the bottom edge and then hung another one over the top of the stairwell to hang down to the stairs. My cat can easily duck under and go where she wants and the expensive warm air stays down. We used four of the sheets and have a spare, but the sheets are surprisingly durable.

Great for a small survival kit or winter car kit.
These mylar blankets are great in many ways but also have some shortcomings. Note that these shortcomings are just a result of the product being what it is and in no way is because of a lack of quality in the product. The pros are that this is a very small and light weight way to have some form of warmth and shelter in an emergency situation. The cons are that because it is so thin, it lacks the duribility to be used multiple times. If you are very careful you could reuse this several times but it will likely tear and when it does it will be hard to keep the tear from spreading. I keep one of these in each of my vehicles so that I can keep warm if I stall in the winter. I also keep one in a small survival kit I wear on my belt in the woods. Overall this is a great tool to use in an emergency, and for the price you can't go wrong.

Didn't use for intended purpose
I bought these quite awhile back to use in event of power outage to help maintain aquarium temps, as of this writing haven't had to use for this. Flash forward, new move into home with huge window in living room. Beautiful yes, but even with heavy curtains and shades the sunlight heated the room up to 80+ In desperation I dug these out (took 1 and 1/2) and taped up with scotch tape. It allowed some light in and I could still see out, but people couldn't see in. The folds made for a quilted appearance but who care, keep room temp 5 degrees cooler. YAY!

Good for traveling in space! And, protecting stuff...
I have a vinyl record collection that is sensitive to heat, light and air, but it is so bulky I need to store it in a shed outside. I needed to shield them from the elements, so I bought these to line the boxes- and it worked great! The temperature this summer reached over 100 degrees, but when I opened the boxes to feel the temperature, they were cool and protected. So aside from emergency purposes, these are great for a lightweight method of protecting stored valuables.

Good size, price, handy to have for many uses
My only reservation is the thickness. So thin, it's slightly transparent.

So so
I guess it does the job but much thinner than I expected, not very strong, rips easily, even by the wind. I stapled to the fence for garden reflection, the first gust tore it up.
