LDR Industries 502 5108CP Toe Style Touch Bathtub Drain Stopper, Chrome

This doesn't come with installation instructions so I "winged it" thinking that there's only one way to install it.However, after installation I noticed that the thick rubber gasket was causing the drain to sit above the low point in the tub. That means, when the tub is drained there will be residual water collected at the drain plug.After a little research, I believe now, that the thick rubber seal is supposed to go below the tub drain, between the tub and the floor drain it connects to. Therefore, I'm going to remove the drain, remove the thick rubber gasket (I don't need to replace the one below the tub) and install the drain, sealing it with plumbers putty. That way it will sit at the bottom of the drain recess and the tub will empty completely.Pros:1) Attractive and well built.2) Fit my tub like a glove.3) Reasonable price for a fixture fitting that will last for years/decades.4) Seals are provided (where needed. I'd recommend plumbers putty between the drain flange and the tub drain opening).Update:As you can see from the picture above, I removed that thick rubber gasket and used plumbers putty in it's place. The drain is now sealed and seated tight in the tub drain point. Water will not collect around it any longer.Cons:No complaints. This drain should serve it's purpose for many years to come.

It works well. I replaced a corroded one that wasn't sealing. I thought my hot water hear elements were bad because I was running out of hot water before the tub filled. Here it was going down the drain as my old one was leaking. I bought the best tool and it broke free ok but didn't want to turn out. It was putting torgue on the lower pipes. It had my drain at 10 o'clock position. So I used a heat gun. I got it nice and warm/hot and it backed right out. I'm not a plumber so I was happy to get this fixed myself. I put "never seize" on the threads and plumber dope around the top. I rolled the dope into long thing string and wrapped it around the top. I don't know if that is needed or not but it did have it in before, so.. 17 years we have owned our house and I never realized the stopper unscrewed so you can clean it. I've seen some with "hair catchers". I don't know why you would want to do that. The septic will take care of the hair. Happy with it.

This is the second stopper I have purchased, and I am pleased with its performance. It is easy to install if you have the necessary tools, it comes with a rubber O ring of which the instructions indicate that its use is optional. I used the O ring, but in hindsight it would have been better to use plumber's putty to seal the base to the tub and avoid a "ledge" created by the O ring. which causes a small amount of water to remain around the stopper's base.

The media could not be loaded. Arrived quickly, only one issue with the drain stopper flange having a chunk out of it, but for $2.17 i found a replacement at the local home depot and fixed it. Looks great and installed quick. Only beast of the project was getting the old one out. #1 tip if youre strugglimg with that is take your hair dryer and aim in down the pipe and around the inside edge of old drain flange. I had tried taking it out without warming it and mine was so old it broke one of the metal rods in the cross bar. Broke a second after warming it for a couple seconds and took the time to warm it up for about 2 1/2 mins with the hair dryer and a little wd-40 to loosen it and it FINALLY came out. Install was super quick and after the replacement was added it all works great! Video shows how to take drain stopper flange off if youre like me and need to replace it. Happy home improvement guys!

This is a very nice-looking drain stopper and if fit perfectly. You really have to remove the old one before ordering to be sure of the size. I'm going to order another one for our basement tub, but I will remove it first, as it looks like it might be smaller.

Works well and much better than the plastic one i first bought.

I replaced a very old bathtub drain in my old ceramic bathtub and it was a fairly easy process that took me about 15 to 17 minutes. The new tub drain looks good and it is able to create a seal when filling the tub with water. Whether it is rust resistant or not, is hard to tell at this time - but I believe it should be since item is made of stainless steel.

Didn't really care for it - it doesn't always pop up - also it doesn't come with the metal nut that's secures strainer to tub - this is a real problem when the old nut breaks apart because of age - IMO this product should come with the nut - ( can't buy just the nut at local stores had to buy whole strainer ) so hopefully this issue can be addressed ...
