All Fluff and Filler
Let me save you 133 pages and give you the "Functional" part of this book...1. Eat green leafy veggies2. Don't use mouthwash3. Don't use antacids4. Maybe take some sodium nitrite. That's the Functional part of this book. The rest is all fluff and filler. I guess if you don't know why nitric oxide is important there's 133 pages to tell you, but for those who already know and were looking for strategies to improve ones NO production, save ur money, there's nothing here that you can't find from a simple google search written in thousands of articles.

GOOD EXPLANATION OF NITRIC OXIDE BUT LEFT ME CONFUSED
While I enjoyed the explanation of how nitrates, nitrites, and nitric oxide is processed and benefit heart health and other metabolic functions, I was disappointed that when discussing how to supplement the diet I have no idea how to find a product that meets the criteria suggested. As a 72 year old male who reads a lot about maintaining health I was hoping for some suggestions to point toward a product that would help. I am glad he was not selling anything, that adds credibility to the message, but I am not sure I can fully benefit since I do not understand how to research the products the way that is suggested.

Critical information but poorly communicated.
The information is essential but this is written for scientists and other PhDs. So important but poorly communicated. Highly repetitive.

Good information
This is a decent book. I like what it said but, the most useful and applicable parts of the book could be summed up in two sentences: don't use mouthwash, and use beet juice or a beet juice supplement. The rest of it is scientific (and valid) but could also qualify as filler.I am conflicted because I found the book to be a valuable resource, but again could have been summed up in two sentences.
