Having looked at RCA (red, yellow, white) connector to HDMI, I found that a lot of the reviews were slightly negative regarding picture quality. Also they required a USB power source. When I changed my search terminology, I came across this device which connects directly to the Wii and comes supplied with a HDMI cable. I plugged it in and it worked straight away and the picture quality was better than I expected

Firstly this device allows you to use a Wii on an HDMI only TV which just works as you’d expect but it also upscales the picture quality so your Wii never looked so good….or at least doesn’t look any worse as a result of using on a bigger modern screen. Great purchase

Works as advertised. Video quality much improved over the older cables, which i did not expect.Plays very well on 3k monitor.Delivered quickly. Great value.

Very good image. I was concerned because of the low cost but it worked faultlessly. My hd TV didn't have a composite so this was essential for me to play the Wii on our TV and everything we played looked great. Gives a new life to an old system which had such a nice selection of game.

Good quality product

For the money you can't complain. I plugged it in, immediately worked on our LG C2 OLED TV. Picture looked great, sound worked perfectly and allowed us to easily dust off the Wii and use it with a modern TV after many years.There are better ones out there for the best picture quality if that's what you're after. For example, based on the research I've done, the Retrotink 5x Pro seems to be up there as one of the best if you're willing to drop hundreds on a solution, or there are Wii HDMI mods you can do to the console itself if you're happy to take apart the Wii and install some bits. That will get you a better image than this adapter, for a little more money, but obviously a lot more work. So feel free to make the best choice for your requirements!But if you're looking for an easy solution to use an HDMI connection from your Wii with minimal effort, this is what you want, and it does that job perfectly out the box.

Since the new TVs no longer have a port for the RCA cables (red, yellow & white) we had to find a solution so we could continue to play with our Wii by using an HDMI connection. Originally I had purchased a device where you plugged the RCA cables into it. Unfortunately this also needed power provided by a USB cable (the USB cable supplied was so short too) and there no HDMI cable included! That was promptly returned once I found this HDMI Adapter by Portholic, for basically the same price.We simply plugged Portholic's HDMI adapter into the back of the Wii (no need to use the old Wii's RCA cables). Switched on our new Sony LED Bravia TV and hey presto, ready for action! I am certain the picture is a much better quality than our old Samsung TV that was nearly 10 years old so very happy. No one can expect the graphics to be as good as the games around now as the Wii technology was back in 2006. Would definitely recommend.

Fitted well where the HDMI connection was the common one available in the newer TV model.
