Meinl Percussion RS1BK-L Large Bamboo Rainstick, Black

I like it, but would have rather gotten the longer one

The media could not be loaded. I was initially skeptical with some of the bad reviews for this, but my item arrived in great condition. No nails or sticks pointing out and no splits in the wood or anything. Additionally, when used properly and patiently, I could get this rainstick to produce a moderate amount of rainfall sound for about a minute and a half. This is far better than most rain sticks out there that only last 20 to 30 seconds. I couldn't be happier, especially at the amazing price that this is, where other items would cost upwards of $100 more.

When we were kids; we all messed around with a rainstick. A foot...maybe three foot; it was fun and interesting, but that's about it. I bought the monster of this group and it arrived in good shape. Not only that, but with it's size; you can work to control the flows in order to keep the rain flowing unendingly. It looks great, it feels great, it sounds great. I know it's a relatively simple instrument, but it gives you a lot and this item is very much worth what I paid for it.

Once again Meinl kills it in the percussion industry. Imitators will charge 1/3 the price and deliver exactly what you paid for. The craftsmanship and look of this instrument is beautiful. The sound is perfect. Hard to describe but if you have heard a crappy rain stick then this one is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Very please with my purchase.

Good rain stick for starters.You can feel the "heads" popping out through the piece. Some you can easily push back in. Doesn't affect sound, just annoying.Painting is beautifully done. I wish there were more beads inside so the sound would last longer.Best and longest sound I've gotten from this has been turning it on an angle, as the beads fall rotating the piece to allow the beads to trickle through the pins more.

I have wanted a large rain stick ever since I can remember. I have a smaller one about the size of a ruler maybe a little bigger but it is just to fast. When I found this one online, I fell in love with the colors, the carvings and the length of it. The first thing I did when I unwrapped it, of course, was play it. I turned it upside down real slow and just listened to the rain. It was simply amazing. I love it. I use it everyday just to relax me especially if I am having a bad day. Thanks for making an awesome Rain Stick with an awesome trickle effect and it is gorgeous on top of it. What more could I ask for. Thanks again. Sandy

I have only had this rain stick for two months. I’ve always kept inside a climate controlled studio however, the wood stick has split on two sides and is no longer playable. The stick was never dropped and is otherwise not damaged. I would highly recommend against purchasing this percussion item.
