The ONLY real Capture Card Solution on the Market. Nothing else is reliable.
I've been through three $10 HDMI capture cards. They are all find for video capture but fail miserably in transmitting audio into Zoom. The $100 Elgato Cam Link is worth every penny.I scrambled to bootstrap an audio solution to three different major events, where the cheap stuff failed me, so I made the splurge and it saved me the next day at a funeral. Gorgeous 4K transmission with audio and zero complaints. Top quality. The only real solution on the market. Don't waste your time risking it on something else. The usb c and usb a compatibility is also nice, but not a big deal to me.

Instant Plug-and-Play Results using Nikon Z6II on MacBook Pro
Initial impression: it just works! Using a Nikon Z6II connected to a 2019 MacBook Pro (Intel chipset), I opened the package plugged everything in and… it worked instantly! No instructions needed! Opened the Photo Booth app and selected Cam Link and… beautiful video! I did not try the audio. The build quality is typical electronics material like a TV remote… it’s robust. It’s simple and effective… based on this initial setup we can recommend it.

Digitize those memories!
I plugged in the product the day it arrived and it worked like a charm! I did not use the software it comes with, but OBS. I was able to digitize an interview with a relative from over 20 years ago on a VHS tape and share it with family. The quality was as good as the VHS or better, so I am very pleased! Looking forward to digitizing more old memories. This item was combined with a RCA to HDMI converter to work.

Don't go the cheap route, buy this. No seriously, I'm not paid to say this just buy it
I tried like eight ways to make my go pro hero seven Black work as a webcam and this literally is the only way for older cameras and GoPro cameras to work as such. It's expensive for a USB capture device but it's WELL BEYOND worth it.

Works - but gets hot and feels flimsy
It works - takes the HDMI from the Canon 90d and provides a 4K 24fps Webcam output to the computer for zoom calls or live streaming. However, it does get HOT during use and I wonder how long it will last. The design uses cheap plastic and is fairly large, making it difficult to connect to the hub or computer without a short extension cable. If they made it with a metal casing, heatsink, and included a short extension cable it would be a far nicer product.Still, it does work and thus - 4 stars.

Perfect for Digitizing VHS – Works Great with SoundBeast AV2HDMI!
I used the Elgato Cam Link 4K along with the SoundBeast AV2HDMI 2.0 to digitize old VHS tapes, and it worked flawlessly! The setup was simple—connected my VCR to the SoundBeast converter, then ran the HDMI output into the Cam Link, which captured everything smoothly on my PC.The video quality was excellent, with low latency and no noticeable lag, and the Cam Link handled the conversion effortlessly. It worked perfectly with recording software, making the process easy and efficient. If you’re looking for a high-quality solution for preserving old memories, this combination is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!

Solid buy
Always connects seamlessly, once you figure out the quirks.I use OBS studio and this, coupled with a usb wireless trackpad and keyboard to have a mobile KVM through my laptop. I work in racks 2 days a week, and it’s a compact reliable solution to a device that wasn’t configured properly. Holds up with constant cross-country travel, being used nearly daily, and construction dust.

Great. would buy again
{Update} After 10 uses. Been using it with Video Conference calls. People tell me that the camera with this device are worlds better. So glad I got this device. What I've now noticed, is I don't think it's wise to keep it plugged into my laptop 24/7. The Elgato Cam get's warm even when not in use. NOT hot. But warm enough that you know it's not good for the long term to leave it like that. I would buy again for another camera for 2nd angle if I had a youtube channel or something like that for sure. If Elgato releases a USB-C version and it gives better quality, I don't think I'd jump at it. Seriously, the quality I'm getting with the current set up is totally good enough.Original Post:Setup with my Nikon D750 camera. I had to change the settings on the camera to not shutoff the link. But after figuring that out, it works great. I use it for Zoom calls for work and it's such a difference. The camera option on my mac laptop in zoom shows up as a secondary camera option. I didn't have to install any software. It just works. My nikon camera is warm after 10 minutes so you shouldn't leave the camera on all day for example. The quality and speed of the connection is seamless. I should that being USB rather than USBC might not have the bandwidth to support a smooth response, but it certainly did. No issues whatsoever. For the price, I was happy with the results. I did have to buy the HDMI cable for my Nikon which I didn't expect. So be careful in researching that.So when I'm not using the device, I keep it in a plastic case with pads in it. I also happened to have a USB cover cap that I place on it when I remove it from the computer. $100 is still expensive no matter how you look at it.I can see this device being used as part of the setup for a video podcaster or youtuber for the perfect setup. The quality is so good that it passes through. Again, it supports HD quality w/ no issues or added delay to pass the signal. The device itself is hard plastic. But it doesn't feel overly light or flimsy. I'm glad I bought it and would buy again.
