fantastic video recorder
My first high quality camcorder. Beautiful stable movies. indoor low light capability is amazing. Bokeh is perfect in blurred backgrounds at f2.8. Clean hdmi output is perfect with no status stuff from camera. stabilization is very good. Much larger and heavier that the consumer level cameras but still hand-holdable although i purchased a fluid ball head for my good macro tripod. most welcome is a very decent wide angle capability. i could care less about high power zoom. but being able to record entire family in a room is awesome with no special lens attachments. This thing can really do closeups too. fun to experiment with. Wish it had a stop action intervalometer but the slow and fast motion is very good. so far no complaints even though its pretty expensive.

Great Camera
I bought his camera to prevent me using my college's canon $2k and $4k cameras. I filmed in documentary in NY and the end results was great. The quality of the video as good as those professional cameras. I had to buy my own microphone as this camera doesn't have a XLR connection. If you need top sound, might be best to buy the Vixia G70. I still use it to film outside, landscapes, sports, and the camera does amazing.

Very Nice Camcorder for the Price
Excellent well built device!! Great 4k Video and plenty of manual features to play with if you set to Manual Mode. Overall I am very impressed by the G50.I tested the low light performance and it was much better than I expected. Since I film in my living room under studio lights with shadows I want to get the best low light performance I can reasonably afford so I decided to go for the G60 instead with the slightly larger sensor. If I was filming mostly in the day I would keep the G50. It's really a nice, affordable camcorder. I highly recommend it!

Very Nice Camcorder
I have purchased several DSLR cameras for travel, but have always been disappointed with them. If you're at a large museum, a historical sight, mountain top, etc., a camera doesn't cut it, you need a camcorder. After a few practice shots at a local park, I think this is what I needed. I was very impressed with the resolution of the video. Setting it up to work like you want doesn't take long. Learning how to use gain instead of iso might take another couple of days, but this camera makes the effort worth my time. The cost is about half of what a 5D Mark IV was three years ago, so the price is good too.

Awesome camcorder but the stabilization needs work
I sold my 2013 Sony Camcorder to buy this one and I'm VERY glad I did. The image quality is amazing. It's lightweight, easy to operate, the stabilization is very good, and on and on. I also bought the DM-100 mic and an extra battery and now I'm all set for the next vacation.UPDATED: 5/30/2019I took the camcorder on a recent 4 night cruise to Cuba. I noticed two problems.1. (Minor)You have to *really* push the record button to make sure you're actually recording.I found a few occasions where I had the screen closed and hit the button thinking I was recording and then I'd check it a few minutes later and it didn't actually record because I hadn't pushed the button hard enough.2. (Major)In a practical setting such as walking around the ship while recording and aiming the camera at various scenes while walking around, I discovered later that it doesn't really have built in stabilization. If you want rock solid footage, you'll need to treat it like a regular DSLR camera that's recording video; hold it firmly with both hands and keep the movements to minimum with slow and steady motion. The ironic thing was I recorded footage on the GoPro 7 with the hypersmooth on in the same manner while walking around the ship and the difference was staggering. Canon should figure out how to incorporate that type of stabilization into the camcorder; maybe license something from GoPro.

Good solid camera can record for more than 24 hours at 1080p with redundant copy recording
I owned one of these and bought a second to shoot a Guinness world record 24 hour chin-up attempt from two angles. With two 256MB memory cards this camera can not only record 17mbps 1080p continuously for more than 24 hours, but it can also make a simultaneous redundant copy on the second memory card. This was crucial in filming a 24 hour Guinness attempt where any recording glitch could have been catastrophic. Both cameras performed flawlessly and am very happy with them.

Wonderful Camera
The name says it all! This is a real gem to work with. I use it on full auto to produce online content. It is compatible with after market remote controls and external microphones which make one-man productions easy! It is a bit larger than the competitors but the 4K resolution and the mp4 codec makes up for any minor inconvenience.

Good optical zoom, gets the job done
I needed a secondary camera for my church's live streaming. Last year - I purchased the Vixia HF G21. That has since been discontinued, so this was the most comparable to that, just 4K instead of 1080P.I have both cameras side by side in the back of the sanctuary. One is a wide shot for worship and this one, the G50, is a tight shot for the teaching/sermon time. This has enabled us to improve our live streams by making it feel more like they are in the room with us to have a close up.The only downfall, and I think this is more with any camera in the setup I have, I had to set it to manual focus because if there was any lighting change, it would throw a fit on the auto focus, but its a good 50+ feet away from where I have it zoomed into, so there is a lot of room for change, but I set the manual focus and have no issues with it.
