Popular Music Theory Guidebook Grades Debut-5

Great Ida for rockschool to fo this. The nice thing about it is the application to popular music. There is a clear need for this. However.. The content is very terse and limited in depth. I have constantly had to refer to other web site content and books to get good and clear understanding of much of the basic theory. In other areas it would have been nice to have a clear example of the approach to take in perfoming a particular task, Eg, transcription. I have given this four stars for the intent but the content I think is lacking. It would be good if this could be improved.

I bought this as a guide as to what was expected from Rockschool for their music theory tests. The content gives you a basic and useful grounding in general rock band information and an introduction to music theory in a clear and easy to grasp style. However, this is NOT a comprehensive book on music theory - there are better books around for those people who require more detail or a reference on music theory.

Excellent text and workbook scheme

Great book if learning to play any instrument, simple to understand and read through.
