Well .... It is important to know if the microwave sparks and flashes that it is because of a damaged waveguide cover . I didn't know this but googled sparks and flashes and subsequently discovered the cover could be replaced . A 5 pack for a couple of pounds arrived next day from Amazon and the problem was solved so easily. Four left over for future use . My son told me to bin the microwave but I am glad I researched online .
