The 8051 Microcontroller, The (4th Edition) Paperback – January 1, 2006

8051... Isn't that obsolete?The chip is, but the core is in hundreds of chips and more keep coming. This is a good introduction to the family and brings you up to speed. It has notably good reference appendices of the instruction set and special function registers. Program structure and design is covered for C and assembly. Some of the small chips in the family have only 1k of memory and for those applications assembly is a fit.This book, a search on the net for a list of 8051 family chips and the data sheet for your specific chip, along with the free software that the suppliers now provide should get you going.

Good read and a lot more information than we used in class.

A solid book. You can find it for $25 on other sites though.....
