The best to use from a professional chicken hearder with 3,000.
This is coming from a professional Chicken hearder with 3,000 chickens. These are the best inside waterers you can get. The water level is ajustable. Just do not use clear hose. Very easy to maintain. Again coming from a free range egg farmer. If you do not know how it works I can see how some would not know what to do..

Best Poultry Waterer
The media could not be loaded. This has got to be the best solution for watering chickens and turkeys. When I installed mine, I put sand in the base, but didn't fill it completely. The first time I attempted to clean it, I tilted it to dump the water. This caused the sand in the container to shift unevenly. We didn't realize the drinker wasn't level until the next morning when we found it dry. So I filled the bottom unit to the top with sand, re-hung it and it's been good since. Also, the 1/4in PVC hose wasn't long enough for my application so, I'm going to order a longer hose.Originally, we wanted to order a pressure reducer since it requires 4-6 lbs of pressure. We set up a bucket of water with a siphon to the drinker while shopping for the correct pressure reducer. However, the siphon works perfectly and we see no reason to worry about changing it. I have a shutoff valve on the water bucket placed slightly higher than the bell-matic for the siphon. Works like a champ!

High likelihood of failure
Easy to install, but hard to configure proper water level. Mine also came with faulty O-rings (all 3), and crap installation parts, so I had to make a trip to the hardware store to find smaller ones. At any given time they will stop working or spring a leak. I almost lost an entire coup full because it stopped working on a HOT day. Do not risk it.

THE ONE AND ONLY FEEDER
This thing is awesome! I have chicken and pheasants. Ended up getting this for my pheasants and it’s been the GREASTEST addition to my pin. I WILL be ordering another one for my chickens. EVERYONE do yourself a favor and stop buying the other garbage out there. This unit has given me ZERO issues compared to others style of water feeders. It takes a little more set up but WORTH it. Save your money and buy this unit and it will be your last one. GUARANTEE!

Good idea, needs better instructions.
I love the idea of this waterer. We have about 25 chickens that mostly free range during the day. We also have a handful of ducks who like to swim in any open water source. We wanted to find something that the birds could get their beaks but not their bodies, that we didn't have to refill every 2 hours. The issue that we ran into was that there is not much in the way of instructions. So we were on our own to figure it out. We first tried hooking it up directly to a water hose with some adapters. The problem is that the pressure was too high. The plunger would not depress when the water levels got too low. We finally found someone who had set up a reservoir system that solved the problem. The solution is pretty simple. You will need a 5 gallon bucket, a toilet tank float kit, throw the black plastic tubing they send you away and get some 1/4 ID tubing, and a 1/4 inch male fitting.(you can get away with all that for $40 at your big box store)Drill a hole and put the toilet kit through the center of the bottom of your bucket. Hook a garden hose up to that (you will need the 3/4 to 7/8 adapter to make it work). Then drill the 1/4 inch male adapter through another part of the bottom of the bucket. Hook your 1/4 tubing up to the male adapter and run over to the waterer. The bucket has to be hung higher than the waterer. Then turn the water on to the bucket. The reservoir fills, then the water is gravity fed to the waterer. This keeps the pressure off of the plunger but keeps the bucket/reservoir full when the float drops below your setting.Once we had that set up it all works pretty well. Will probably have some fine tuning to do over time. My biggest issues was just figuring out how to make the darn thing work!

Amazing Product!
I have around 50 Chickens and Guineas in my Chicken Coop. After trying to rely on a bird sitter to come fed and water my birds when I was at work, I came across this product and bought it. It is a game changer. I mounted it underneath a Blue 55 Gallon Barrel which sits on a wooden stand. Now I only have to water my birds every two weeks instead of several times a day. I just fill up the barrel and check on it from time to time. I love it! I recommend this product.

Exactly what we needed
This is working exactly as we needed. We set it up below a raised platform and connects to a 50 gallon tank above. Fresh water now for a month!
