Winning Chess Puzzles for Kids Paperback – November 11, 2006

I'm a beginner adult chess hobbyist and I can't recommend this book enough for beginners like me. Most of the Puzzles are easy to help you clearly see checkmate positions, forks, pins etc. Others like the Mate in 2 or Triple Loyds are more challenging!If I was a kid wanting to really learn chess, I would definitely enjoy this book. In fact, I'm writing all of my answers in a separate note book so that MY child will have the opportunity to go through this workbook.

The price is up there but my son's chess coach recommended it so I bought it. It is a very big volume containing hundreds and hundreds of puzzles and exercises to keep the kids' minds going. Since my 7yo took his first chess class he came home and beat me so I am no longer useful to him. This book gives him something to think about since I cannot help him anymore!

Jeff Coakley writes the best scholastic chess teaching books ever. This book combines conventional mate in 1 and 2 with tactics and instructive original problems (who's the goof?, helpmates, switcheroos, etc). If you are teaching a chess club, you won't regret ordering this book and his others (esp Winning Chess Strategy for Kids).

My kids like the book. My 12 year old has about an 800 rating and thinks its a little too easy but he's not far into the book yet. My 8 year old - not rated - thinks its a challenge. Problem with the binding on the copy we received and many pages coming out.

My son teaches chess as part of his elementary school day care work at his Jiu-Jitsu studio. He was really excited to get this book. It is a great tool to enhance his program curriculum.

Great Book, recommended by my son's chess teacher. We get a lot of use out of it. He is in 5th grade.

Fabulous resource for chess coaches/teachers and students. Engaging for children and adults.

It's great -- gives me a lot of practice in learning the strategy and tactics of chess.
