The voice alone and his style of singing makes your tears drop and smile too. CD arrangements is excellent. Sad voice, singing just like telling a story that grab your attention. Perfect.

I initially bought this CD because of the Jobim songs with their very definite bossa nova rhythms such as Triste,Wave and One Note Samba.Howver there are some other fine melodies such as two numbers composed by Britain's Paul Ryan,of which I Will Drink The Wine is my favourite.It seems to be that the album is one of two halves,;one half has a session with Jobim compositions while the other half contains songs written by other contemporary songwriters such as Paul Ryan,Burt Bacharach and John Denver. Francis Albert was in fine voice at this point in his career,exhibiting a tender,mellow tone in all the songs.Maybe this was not his finest work,not a classic Sinatra album but nevertheless it does contain some lovely,well orchestrated songs recorded in 1971,delivered by a craftsman of song I would say that it is a must for any dedicated Sinatra fan.

I wanted to get the track "Lady Day" - a different, richer version to that on "Watertown" so I had to get this album even though I had the A.C.Jobim songs on the complete Sinatra-Jobim album. The early 70s tracks were pleasant but not stunning. Quite liked Sinatra's "Close to you" because it's different in phrasing to the perfect Carpenters version, but it lacks the magical tones of the Bacharach-Dionne Warwick original. It's a difficult LP because it came out of Sinatra's decision to pull the complete 2nd Sinatra-Jobim LP, which left only one side of favoured tracks. It lacks unity as a result, but it is SINATRA, and that's a whole lot more than you can get from a singer these days.
