Nu Republic Starboy X-Bass Wireless Headphone with Mic (Red & Black)

There are number of options for Bluetooth headphones in mid-range but for those having a budget around 1.5K, very few options are there and picking right one is a challenging job.I bought this Starboy by Nu Republic after a good research and after using it I could say that it’s a nice option in sub 1.5K range. Although it’s made of plastic, it still feels quite good in hand. It can be easily folded by turning the ear cups upside. Volume rockers along with power button are provided on the right ear cup. An LED indicator, audio and USB jack also sat on the right ear cup.On testing at medium volume, it gave a playback of more than 7 hours. It took roughly 3hrs to charge its battery. It is equipped with Bluetooth v4.2 which ensures decent connectivity without any lags. Since it supports aux connectivity, it’s better to keep the included aux cable handy to continue uninterrupted music even when battery is down. It also supports calling with inbuilt mic but the voice quality during call is just fine.Coming to its audio performance, I would say that bass heads will definitely love these as it has quite good bass but sadly it overshadows details. It’s too loud, on full volume anybody sitting in any corner of the room can hear the audio clearly which is a little weird. It lacks a balanced audio but listening at medium volume gives a decent performance justifying the price.P.S. Reasons why I returned this product :1. Sound quality is not at all crisp. The bass isn't thumping nor the mids and highs are clear.2. Highly uncomfortable for the ears. The ears start to sweat and there's some heat which is generated which feels annoying. It sits on the ears and the clamping force is high enough to make you put it down.3. Feels plasticy . Not at all durable.PROS -1. Battery life and Bluetooth range is good.2. Looks trendy.

The sound quality is really very good I used boat rockers earlier but it is way better than that. These headphones are very reasonably priced and if your budget is around this range this is a must buy product.

Comfort: They not at all comfortable to wear. Even 15 mins of usage is enough to give your ears some noticable pain.Sound quality: not upto the mark.Base: After using my Philips headphones for around 2 years which has amazing base, I feel as if base is not there at all.My recommendation: I got it for ₹899 and am still not satisfied with the product. If you wanna buy it at around ₹1299 etc... Then my recommendation would be a strict NO.

I am pretty impressed with the capabilities of this Headphone considering its price.Pros:1. Good sound quality. The first time I put it on, I was not happy with the sound as it felt like it was lacking something in it. It was like the music was lifeless. But, after charging it and using it for several hours, the sound improved dramatically, and now it sounds really good. So, I think there is a break-in period for it to get its proper sound output. Now, it has everything normal, like there is enough bass, but not too much bass like some other headphones designed for bassheads.2. Wireless and Wired at the same time. I didn't think that Bluetooth audio at this price range would be good, but surprisingly it was as good as any wired headphone at this price point. The ability to use it as wired headphone was a huge plus point, as some devices don't have Bluetooth like desktop computers. Also, you can continue using the headphone in wired mode once the battery has drained out.3. Seamless connection. The bluetooth connects instantly as soon as the device is turned on. Several years ago, this was a major problem with bluetooth headsets as it took too much time to pair, but it is not at all an issue with current generation of devices.4. Reasonable range. The distance you can go away from your device is about 10 meters. That is about the same as any other bluetooth device. If there are any obstruction on the path like closed doors, then that range shrinks to about 7meters.5. Good battery life. I got about eight hours of usage time. Actually, I might have got a bit more time than that as I didnt count the time when the bluetooth was connected but I was not using the device.6. Premium looks. If it is kept on a table, from a bit distance, it looks like a premium headphone like it looks similar to Audiotechnica M50X sitting there. I liked the black and silver color scheme.7. Foldable. Being able to fold the headphone makes it significantly easier to transport it in a bag. All wireless headphones must have this feature.Cons:1. When using it for a long time(several hours), it is not that comfortable as ears kinda get some pain due to the tighter band and less cushioned pads. Maybe it will improve after few weeks when the bands become more loose. Also, I wish if the pad was slightly bigger as in my opinion the problem is because the pads are not big enough to fully cover my ears. It is more like a large on-ear headphone than a true over-the-ear headphone. I checked the market, and it is really difficult to find a good true over the ear headphone. Almost all of them are on-ear.2. The charging cable(USB to microUSB) which came with my device was not working and didnt seem of good quality.3. It takes 3 hours to fullly charge it. That is twice longer than my phone. I know this is a low cost headphone, but I wished if it had quick charging.Conclusion:At this price point, it is an excellent buy with a good balance of sound quality, features and practicality.
