So far so good
I have smoked probably 50 briskets and about 30 pork butts in my grilling career. I own a Large Big Green Egg. Normally I wake up at about 3:30 am and the labor of love begins. I sit next to the grill beer in hand for up to 15 hours watching the temperatures and fiddling with my box and daisy cup vents. I always told my self it made me a better cook... How stupid I was... This this is AWESOME... At first I was skeptical checking it every 5 mins or so making sure that it was working. it took about 3-4 hours and I stopped doing that and the seed of faith blossomed and begin to grow. This is a game changer, My grill has not wavered for about 12 hours today and I couldn't be happier and am kicking my self for not getting this thing sooner. The PartyQ is a must have eggsessory! My only two concerns are: a slight 5 degree difference from what it says and what my really good thermometer says.. but 5 degrees has never made or broke a smoked meat for me so I'm cool with it. The other is the battery life, do your self a favor and just buy the lithium batteries, its one of those pay the price or buy twice things.Anyway, would absolutely recommend ESPECIALLY if you are new to the Big Green Egg and have trouble controlling your temps.

does not work
Bought this for a weber smokey mountain. The temp probe reads the outside temperature correctly but as soon as I put it into my smoker the temperature reading slowly declines and eventually reads "---". I though the probe was bad so I ordered an (expensive) replacement ...same thing as soon as it's put in the smoker temperature slowly declines then goes to "---" (right next to another much cheaper thermometer that's reading over 200) with the fan constantly spinning. Tried running the probe through the side door, under the top lid, through the top vent, hanging, cliping to grates etc every time same thing happens. Not worth wasting any more of my time.

Works great
The shipment was prompt and the product as promised. I would consider getting one with an AC adapter input. This model does not have one. Batteries seem to last about 8-12 hours and get weak near the end. Uses 4 AA batteries (included!).The performance was perfect. We had never been able to get our egg up to sear using just convection. Absolutely no problem with this product, fan the coals a little and poof, searing steaks like a pro. Smoking was also perfect, 3 pork tenderloins in about 5 hours cooked to perfection (recipe in the box, added some marinate after smoking).

Eats Batteries.
works great. I have a Kamado Joe Classic II and when it comes to low and slow there is nothing like the PartyQ. I set it in the morning and forget it.only complaint is that it absolutely devours batteries. I am looking into getting some rechargeable ones so I'm not using so many. still, can't think of doing ribs or a brisket or a pork shoulder without it. would recommend.

Probes fail, does not maintain temperature
I was excited to get this. First probe didn’t work out of box. They sent me a replacement. It failed in ten minutes. It isn’t worth risking a bad cook

Great Improvement!
This 2nd generation BBQ Guru "Party Q" is a great improvement over my 1st generation BBQ Guru "Party Q" for the Onyx Oven BBQ Smoker the BBQ Guru company previously made and sold. In the attached photo, the 1st Gen Party Q on the left has a smaller fan, the newer 2nd Gen Party Q has a much larger fan and works a lot more efficiently. I smoked a brisket in my Onyx Oven for 12 hours using the 2nd Gen Party Q and it maintained the appropriate temperature consistency without me having to replace the batteries mid-stream during my 12 hour smoking session. Very pleased with the durability of the 2nd Gen Party Q. My only critique is the attachment stem is not as flexible as it appears and is somewhat rigid, but durable. This 2nd Gen Party Q also fits snug into the 1.5" diameter firebox intake at the rear of my Onyx Oven BBQ Smoker. I wish i would have purchased this version earlier.

Upgrade to my WSM
I bought this for my WSM. My chief complaint is that the device always seems to be 10 degrees short of the target temp. If I set it to 250, it'll heat to 240 and shut off, never reaching the target temp. My second complaint is that it is a battery hog. The manufacturer recommends sealing all of your vents with thermal tape. I did that for a few smokes, but found the device to be far less taxing and more accurate without the thermal tape. I close all the vents 80%, and the fan compensates for what the coals need. This method works way better for me.The PartyQ is a significant upgrade to my WSM. Despite these two complaints, I recommend it. Once I dial it in with my 'custom' method, it is truly set and forget. I trust it to smoke a brisket for 8+ hours, no problem.

Accurate and well worth the money
Just spent my last day monitoring my smoking operations. Got my Primo XL all set up with some ribs and really thought the device was junk until I realized the fan was activating just long enough to change the temp one degree at a time. Took all of 5 minutes to install and set the temp. Well worth the money!
