Neat, inexpensive DVD drive... Update: that doesn't write
I bought this because my new laptop hasn't got a DVD drive and on the rare occasion you need to read/write a DVD you need to do it there and then so it seemed a good idea to have an inexpensive solution ready. It worked straight away and reads DVDs and CDs without any issues. I haven't tried writing anything yet. I'm very pleased with it. Update after finally trying to burn data DVDs some 8 months after purchase: I find that the drive does not recognise blank DVD or CD disks so I'm no longer very pleased! Obviously it's far too late to return the drive via Amazon but I complained to the seller who has now refunded the purchase price in full.

Doesn't work with 2019 iMac
I purchased this on 9 Apr 2019 and it worked... once. Then I tried burning a data DVD today (16th September 2019) and the thing will not burn for love nor money. When plugged into the iMac via USB the blank DVD IS recognised, but when I attempt to actually burn the disc the drive groans and beeps at me for about 5 minutes, and then I get the following message :'The disc can’t be burned because communication between the computer and the disc drive failed (error code 0x80020022)'And that's it. The DVD is spat out and when I insert it back into the drive the DVD reads as blank. I've tried other blank DVDs (both DVD-R and DVD+R) and the bloody thing will not work. A total waste of time and money.

Unintelligible instructions
The device worked as soon as plugged it in. It seems high quality, but I will add to this review if something happens later. The main reason for writing this review so soon after buying the device is the quality of the instructions. They were written by someone with a very low standard of English or possibly by automatic translation. They are so badly written, they may even cause unnecessary problems. The photographs are also tiny and thus useless. Fortunately the instructions did not stop me using the product, but other people might need to know what the instructions are trying to say.

Portable and easy to use
It's lightweight and easy to use. Just plug it in and push the pop-up button. No need to install driver. It's compatible with Windows 10. And the cable is embedded behind the product! Well designed!

Isn't recognised by PC
In the case it is not recognised (which must be common or why write it on the box)... "If the drive doesn't recognize or in use process, speaking, reading and writing is not smooth, please take a wire of power supply" Eh? Not sure how to 'take a wire of power supply' on a USB lead??! Have tried all known methods of getting PC to recognise but it just clicks and whirrs to itself. Do not buy ... rubbish product

Great product
Delivery was super quick, great value for money and sturdy not light as a feather. Used a lot for many hours uploading 139 CDs over the course of 2.5 days, super quick and using with sony music app to upload just made life super easy, no renaming titles, all done automatically unlike the media player that I already have with windows.

Useful little drive.
As I have recently upgraded my iMac and the new one has no CD/DVD drive, an external version was a necessity. Having checked online with the bewildering number of drives available, I chose this one. It is easy to set up, simply plug and play, no software involved. The only gripe is that the tray does not fully eject when the open button is pressed making it a bit fiddly. Otherwise it works fine.

Severe reliability isdues.
Not at happy with the reliability of this model, this is the second to fail in a matter of months. The first one failed after 14 months so no warranty, at least this one is only 3 months old so I should get a refund/replacement. But this is mot good for a ‘Backup’ rsted HDD.
