John Galliano for Dior

WOWWWWWWW, and the wait is finally over. This is probably one of the books I have lusted over and anticipated most in all my fashion book loving tenure. Despite seeing some previews online, unavoidable these days, when I opened it first hand I was floored by the spectacularly gorgeous and without par content. Mind you: GALLIANO’S tenure at Dior is one of the most sensational runs fashion at this highest level has witnessed, and it would be almost impossible to take a bad picture of these compelling subjects. Which is why this book SOARS so high ...because the talented author and photographer managed to accomplished just that . Capture not only the obvious beauty of these garments live, but also their essence and in away the behavior of their wearers (some of the worlds most beautiful models) in them . It also sheds a very bright light on the compelling reality and realistic aspects that lie beneath, behind and underneath these most fantastical and dream inducing creations. The shots in which the OTHERWORDLY looking models appear coexisting with the mare mundane mortals prepping them up and out onto or from the runway make for a surreal essay on perceptions. Is this real or not ...it’s actually both ...and in the process it validates the forever finality caught here on that that is ephemeral by nature . It also let’s the curious viewer take a peek on some of the underpinnings that construction wise , let these garments stand by themselves. Minute details like crinolines , wire boning , petticoats and some wicked corsetry coexist harmoniously with the outside pristine finished garments . But if you want to take this tome lightly and at face value , you can still get all your money worth . Given that through sharp photography , saturated colors and great lighting technique , nothing escapes your sight from these images. I have all 4 of this prodigiously talented photographer/author published works and I most certainly compell you to have them as well. Wether you are a fashion insider, admirer or freak. Beauty is much needed these times and this and all tomes have it in spares! This book in particular :arguably one of the most beautiful books ever created past , present and even future , not only on the direct subject but on the whole realm of fashion itself!......RUN TO ORDER THIS GEM, before it becomes officially a collectors item . Thank you Mr Fairer for this gift!

I cannot stress enough how necessary this book is to all personal fashion libraries. I only wish there were even more stunning images than already included - close up details and rare behind the scenes images of the Galliano glory days at Dior. Amazon is offering a great deal on this, as it retails for $150.

This book is an exciting peek behind the curtain at the fabulous frivolous haute couture circus of Galliano's Dior. Worth every penny.
