Can someone tell me how this works with google home/assistant? is it as simple as saying "hey google open the garage door?"

No it is not as simple. You have to say "talk to Aladdin connect" then Aladdin connect will come on and say "Hi I'm Aladdin connect. You can say things like 'open door' or 'close door.' What would you like to say?" I find it easier just to use the Aladdin connect app to open or close my garage door and check the history vs the the voice command

can door be opened if power fails ?

You can disconnect the door from the track and pull it open with the rope. My unit does NOT have a battery backup! If there is a battery backup that will operate the motor 50 times, there's no way it would fit in the lift unit I have.
