Original Top Upper LCD Screen Display Replacement for Nintendo New 2DS XL LL with Opening Tool

I used the IFixIt guide to replace my upper screen in my 2DS and it functions perfectly! The repair process is semi difficult, and I recommend handling the DS system delicately. You will likely need a repair kit alongside this screen and screwdriver to wedge the device open. Be very gentle with the little red wifi cable inside, it snaps quite easily. Great price and I saved a lot of money compared to going to a repair shop. I replaced my screen about 3 months ago and it still works fantastic. It is durable and works just like a new one.

I would not recommend this replacement screen. It is insanely dim. I did not have auto brightness on and made sure to have brightness set to 5. The only good thing about using it is that I can use the 2ds xl again. If I mod it I'm sure I can tweak it a little bit. And LED's bleed through the display. Seems like whatever diffusing assembly they put with this is terrible along with the LED's themselves.I figured since I already have my hands all over it and partially assembled that I would keep it. The only that helped me was taking the genuine nintendo screen and tearing it down to the led plastic assembly and lcd glass. And using the led light plastic assembly ( lenses and sheets) and replacing the one that came with this display. It helped a ton and stopped the backlight bleed. I would not recommend this as it can be very easy to mess up and destroy.Also If any of you have a 3d printer. Use the heatbed to assist in removing plastic and the LCD from the top lid adhesive. It works insanely well. It made my screen swap under 30 minutes ( mostly waiting on the printer to warm up. ) Just be sure to use some guitar picks and a razer and take it slow. Making sure to put the top assembly back with a heat source when it becomes too hard to make any more progress. This should not take much force! ( The old LCD may crack but aslong as your gently you wont have shards all over)

If you are not experienced with electronics repair, or at least the disassembly and reassembly portion - DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS REPAIR.I am a 20+ year IT and Electronics technician and was challenged by this one.It requires a heat gun to remove the old screen...It requires double sided electronics adhesive tape (about 1/8" wide)...It requires a tri-wing bit as well as a micro-Phillips bit...It requires tech tweezers for removing and replacing very tiny connectors and ribbon cables that are extremely small and thin...Highly recommend an ESD safe work space...There are several videos on YouTube for fixing this, but be warned - this is not a beginner fix.I would buy again to fix one for a client but I am not looking forward to the work.

As others have mentioned, the tool that comes with it is crap and will strip it. Get a sharper pointed triwing. That said, despite it being an incredibly difficult install, it does work, although there is a bit of backlight bleed on the side. Overall just glad it works.

The screen works, but it is nowhere near the quality of the original. The colors are alright if a bit washed out, the image looks slightly more blurry than the original screen (compared side by side with another working 2ds xl I have), the screen is significantly dimmer than the original and can be noticed simply by comparing it to the bottom one. Also, the viewing angles are pretty bad so you need to view it as straight as possible.These are the same screens you can buy for $10 from China, so I wouldn't really recommend it unless you need it in a hurry.

Spent a few hours going through the bs that is a 2ds teardown, only to find they'd shipped me a defective screen. Absolute trash, and it showed up all dirty and gross looking. At least it came with a screen protector I guess, but I'm really mad they caused me to waste so much of my time. Now I've got to go to the trouble of pulling it back out to return it on top of it. These screens suck, look elsewhere.
