Logitech G MX518 Gaming Mouse

You have probably already read how great of a gaming mouse this is. Like others, I used it in the 2000s as my main gaming mouse. It's really a nice mouse. But, these days I work from home and keep having my mice loose tracking on me. I write code for a living, and I don't need much from a mouse. But, I need it to track correctly. Unfortunately, the standard logitech wireless ones I keep buying, keep loosing its tracking.Thing is, I still have my old 518 from 2007 ish. Guess what? It still works. No tracking issues and I put that thing to work on a nightly basis for years. But, the middle mouse doesn't scroll so I needed a new one. So to avoid having to buy another mouse too soon, I decided to get my old standard and pickup the 518.The new design works just fine, but be sure you are right handed. Does anyone use a mouse with their left hand? Not sure, but this mouse was designed to be used with your right hand. Its got the perfect indent for your thumb which is one of the great features. Its a perfect fit.It doesn't have the nice rubber anymore, but that's not a big deal. Its cheaper now so thats fine. Sensitivity buttons above and below the middle mouse button is nice as well. Just tap to change sensitivity as you need. Remember, this thing was made for performance.This is a wired mouse. There is no wireless functionality, so you have to plug it in. This could be good/bad depending on what you need it for. But, just keep in mind, you have to plug the usb into a port. It took a few mins for it to work, surprisingly, but after a few mins it worked fine.We will see if they still use quality parts in this mouse and it lasts a long time. But, I'm feeling good about it so far. Sometimes if you work all day with a mouse, just buy a gaming mouse for quality. The standard cheap ones don't last.

I've been a Logitech fan for years now since I first started PC gaming. I wont lie I haven't really tried anything else outside of Logitech but I do own just about every main mice in their gaming lineup. The G403, G502, G Pro, G302 and G300s. I always wanted to try the MX518 for its shape but never had the chance until now. I have to say this is arguably the most comfortable mouse Iv ever used. The shape feels similar to the G502 but it gets rid of the non essentials on that mouse and is much lighter. I very much like the old school look and the gloss finish is gorgeous and feels good to grip. I'v played FPS games almost exclusively my entire life. Battlefield, Overwatch, CS:GO, Titanfall, and now I mostly focus on Quake Champions and Apex Legends. The sensor is perfect in every way, that's not really surprising though since it is Logitech after all. The ergonomics are more suitable for medium to large hands, its definitely a THICC mouse and 100 grams isn't exactly the ideal for FPS but I don't mind it at all since the shape makes up for that. I had no issues adjusting from the 89g G pro going to this. Honestly this is probably going to be my main mouse from now on till I find a better shape but that probably wont happen.PROS- Amazing shape for medium to large hands (palm grip)- Solid construction in good 'ol Logitech fashion- Gorgeous aesthetics and finish (I don't care for Lamborghini flares or RGB)- Best sensor on the market- No braided cable (I cant stand brained cable. They're stiff, catch on everything and fray)- Logitech customer support (they have been amazing in the past)CONS- 100g is not ideal would have like to seen it around 90g- New Logitech G Hub software is not good, I much preferred old software- Doesn't give me Shroud aim

Call it what you want, the MX518/G400/G400S/MX518 Legendary keeps coming back for good reason: it's a dead simple mouse with no frills and a whole lot of heft for those with hands on the larger side (And by hands I mean hand, lefties are left out on this design unfortunately) or those that prefer their mice to have some weight. Set the DPI to 800, turn the polling rate to 1,000 Hz, turn off smoothing and acceleration and you've got a mouse FPS junkies have been trusting for 15 years.As always, the thin cable is the weak spot on this line, but having used a G Pro for 3 years with the heavy braided cable constantly getting stuck on everything without it being bungee'd up, I'd rather just be gentle with a thinner and lighter cable.Pros:+Ergos, size and weight best described as "It's chonk." Those with larger hands or those that like to rest their hand on the mouse will come back to this mouse like a long lost friend. This has to be Logitech's longest running gaming mouse both in years and number of refreshes.+Unlike the G Pro, that heft helps it to not be bullied by its cable. The thin, rubber cable also doesn't get stuck on things nearly as much as the Pro's braided cable.+Sensors have been updated to Logitech's latest, but I can't tell the difference from my G400S or G Pro. You still don't have to worry about angle snapping.YMMV:#Logitech's G Hub sucks but that's not necessarily this mouse's fault. Unless you need to be frequently messing with this or other device's settings, feel free to save your settings to the mouse's internal memory and uninstall G Hub to save 250 Megs. You certainly won't need lighting settings or anything.#This is personal taste but the "G" branding is boring. Logitech had a chance to shout out the MX518's old Logitech logo on the mouse and with the included sticker but didn't. I do like the new glossy silver fade-to-black design and prefer it to the old 518's quicksilver design.Cons:-Ergos, size and weight best described as "dated." Those with smaller hands, those that claw grip, lefties, weaker hands etc, will find that they've purchased a brick with 2005's idea of what a hand should contour to.-The cable is still going to be what fails first. It's thin, rubber and connected to the mouse with only a bit of strain relief. There's replacement cables and feet out there if you're in need.-The G400S had a kind of tacky rubbery feeling to its outer shell and sides? The MX518L is all glossy plastic and hard plastic on the sides. Not great for sweaty hands.
