Westek White 150 watts Indoor Dimmer 2 Pack

This works perfectly with my older lamp, but cannot be installed on newer lamps. There is no way to get the key parts (two silver prongs on the sides of the male part of the socket) in touch with metal on the lamp fixture if the fixture itself is plastic on the inside, or it it is one of those fat fixtures that require a large ring to retain the lampshade. I can see where some mods could be made to get this control in touch with metal the lamp, but it's not worth it, and could be dangerous. So, I have put a very responsive three-way dimmer and on/off switch on my time-honored lamp, but nothing for the newer one. I am using an 60W incandescent bulb. These sort of dimmers usually like incandescent bulbs, and 60W seems to be the sweet spot. 5-stars because the control does exactly what it promises to do, and is very responsive to touch.

Product is intended to convert a "turn switch on/off" into a three level brightness touch lamp. 1 of 2 has a factory assembly defect and would never work. 2 of 2 almost works. When power is first applied, you can touch it to select a brightness level but within 5 minutes, it will no longer respond to touch until unplugged and re-plugged. The product is not worth the time it took to write this message except to warn the other potential buyers. Caveat Emptor!

I would prefer if they just tapped on and off without the need to multiple tap to cycle thru the dimmer functions before turning off. One of them turns on with floor vibrations without tapping but I finally figured out where to put it to keep this from happening. My lamps would not accommodate a hard wired box to turn it into a touch lamp. These are easy to set up and adequate for my purpose.

I liked that it was easy to install, all you have to do is screw it into the lamp socket. It works great on one of my living room lamps, just tap the metal part of the light and it comes on.However, on the same style lamp on the opposite side of the room, the lamp will mysteriously come on all by itself without even touching it.Also, if the light socket is not metal on the outside of the socket, the touch lamp device won't work.

I bought these for my 93 year old mother. She has a difficult time reaching up to turn the lamps on and off. She is able to stay seated and just reach over and tap the lamp to dim, brighten or turn off the light. Hope it keeps working!Note: as told in one of the reviews, the socket needs to be metal.

It’s so easy to install and to use

These do dim the lamps. However, you need to use with very short lightbulbs to fit under shade. Another problem is that they turn on sometimes in the middle of the night or sometimes when no one is in the room. Another negative aspect is that they don't work with Alexa or Google. Once you give the command to "turn off the light" they do turn off and resort to the full off position, meaning that next time you give the command to "turn on the light" you also have to touch the lamp to actually turn it on. I replaced it with a Lutron LED + White Adjustable Lamp Control for $16.98 at Lowes. This works fine with Alexa.

I like the fact that it is easy to install, just screw it in properly and it works.Touch any metal surface and it turn light on with our tumbling for light switches. Tap once for dim, tap twice for bright and third time for extra bright.

These replace a couple of super old touch control adapters I had and can no longer live without. They are exactly what I was looking for. Beware that they raise the bulb's height in the socket, which may affect your lampshade a bit.
