I am absolutely thrilled with my recent purchase of the MAKEASY Binding Machine, 21-Hole. This machine has completely transformed my document binding process and I couldn't be happier with the results. First and foremost, the build quality of this binding machine is exceptional. This is a great GBC binding machine. It is lightweight, yet sturdy, and very easy to use. It is easy to adjust for different sizes of paper. It is NOT made to punch 30 sheets of paper at a time (like the big, heavy GBC machines). This is made for small jobs. I have had no problem at all punching up to 8 sheets at a time. Very nice that it came with 100 combs. They are small combs, which should be a clue to the consumer that small jobs are where this machine shines. You can certainly do 100+ page projects, but be aware that you will spend a little time punching the holes. This is perfect for a small, home business like mine.

Great for small projects. Fairly easy to use, although the binding part can be a bit tricky. Definitely worth the price if you're making small booklets at home.

I make many copies of music scores to help me with teaching music. This comb binder makes score binding cheap and easy. The pages sit flat with the included combs even when packed full. The hole punching can be a little difficult if your re punching at the max recommended capacity, but this is the best option at this pride.

BROKE FIRST USE... PAST MY WINDOW TO REPLACE, IT SAT IN THE BOX UNTIL TODAY. I prepped it and followed instructions. I needed to put together a sales packet and tried to do about 10 pages at a time and Literally the second set of pages the gears inside busted and now you hear everything rattling around inside. I bought this so i would be able to setup my sales packets nicely but now i can't and can't even get it replaced. And the sad thing is it feels like it's a sturdy piece of equipment so I'm kind of bummed that it broke the first use

I’m impressed. Read the instructions. Buy bigger binds than what comes with it. As a homeschooling family with four kids, I print most of their work vs buying the books. I WISH I’d gone ahead and bought this years ago. I’ve successfully bound six books in the last week. There’s still some tweaking I need to do, but it’s very easy to adjust and use. It feels sturdy. I had to punch no more than about 10 pages at a time, more than that and it stuck. I like that its design serves both purposes - punches holes and binds, without the need for an additional machine. I really don’t even need my traditional 3-ring binders anymore because this makes thin, easy to store books. I tested lots of folded pages! Since I couldn’t get the setting right, where there wouldn’t be an extra notch cut at one end, I punched till I found a whole space at the ends, then marked the line I needed the paper to be on with a thin strip of blue painters tape. That way the knob can’t go past it, and I know where to place my papers/plastic cover if the knob moves unexpectedly. The last note I’ll add, for anyone printing seat work, pay attention to how the pages print. It was super helpful printing on the short edge so the binding clamp was always positioned at the top of the page. Overall: If I’d known what I was missing I’d have bought this years ago. Just buy it! This is a nice machine to add to the collection of tools that make homeschooling easier.

I was a little worried initially, a couple of the combs were bent when I took the unit out of the box, but I was able to bend them back with my hand. Otherwise, I followed the instructions to punch at least 7 sets of holes in the cardboard that came with the unit to remove the manufacturing oil. I did about 10 sets to be safe. I quickly punched and bound a PDF manual I printed off a couple weeks ago using the 19 hole setting for 8.11 x 11 sized paper and voila. Worked perfectly. The density/weight/thickness/composition of the paper will determine how many sheets you can punch. I'd say maybe 10-11 sheets at 20 weight max per punch (to be safe & not break anything) and it goes down from there as the weight increases. You can certainly punch cardstock and 10 mil lamination, I punched 10 mil laminated 40 weight cardstock without issue but you'll be punching one page at a time. The handle is easily removed for storage and the spacing appears equal with the punch and comb. All in all for household and light office/school use this is a fine machine. The housing is plastic but mechanically inside when I took a peek, everything appeared to be metal. So with care and not over exertion, this machine should last. Just to stress, this is not a high capacity, high volume office unit, this is a home/small office/light school use binding machine, it's great for small projects and light/occasional use but if you're going to be putting together dozens of books a day or want to punch 40 or 100 sheets at a time, don't get this. I highly recommend this unit.
