I only received this item today, so I can't review its durability quite yet, but so far I love it. It is much thicker than I thought it would be. It stays in place for me despite reading a few reviews about it moving(I have a medium length carpet). My chair rolls very well with me sitting in it, and it does not dip into the material whatsoever. My chair rolls so well, that it rolls even when I don't want it to, which I do not see as a negative. It flattened out as soon as I pulled it out of the box; it seemed to hate being rolled up, and it popped out without me expecting it to. Like I stated before, I can't review the durability of this item, and I know that some people said that it broke, so here's to hoping it lasts a long time.Update: I've had this item 6 months now and it is still in great condition and works great. I use it regularly, and my dogs walk on it constantly either to get under my desk or from playing. Despite the use it is still in great condition with no cracks or tears.Update#2 - Everything I stated above is still true. This is a wonderful chair mat to still be lasting 2 years later. The only issue is that the mat has cracked in multiple locations, but I don't think its because of the mat. I've heard it crack a few times, and it only happens when my weight is all the way on my chair tire, which I think at that point any mat would crack. The great thing is, despite the cracks, my chair still rolls around without any problem at all.

This mat is shipped flat, so there are no un-curling problems to contend with. It’s also a hard surface mat unlike my old mat which was somewhat flexible. The flexibility of my old mat resulted in “divots” where my chair rollers made indentations. These indentions would trap the chair rollers and were the points at which cracking of the old mat started. The hard surface of this new mat does not allow divots, at least not yet, we’ll see down the road. The hard surface also allows much easier rolling of the chair. This can take some getting used to if you usually push yourself out of the chair using the arms, the chair will easily roll away from behind you. It doesn’t take long to break this habit. The only quibble I have with this mat is the lack of a beveled edge. This makes getting back on the mat a little more difficult should a roller go over the edge and the reason I gave four stars instead of five. Only time will tell about durability.Edit 03/23/2023:I'm taking off another star because this mat "creeps" on my carpet. My carpet pile is about 7/16 inch and the mat moves about 5 inches a week. There are little nubs on the back that are supposed to keep things in place but they are rounded instead of sharp and shorter than on my previous pad, which stayed in place.Edit 03/30/2023Well that didn't take long. 26 days after being placed into service the first crack has appeared. For the record, I weigh in at around 220lbs and am in the chair less than four hours a day. Taking off another star. Will not be returning it, too much hassle and what would I replace it with? I'll use it until it becomes unservicable and roll the dice once again with a different vendor.

Sturdy, even thicker and sturdier than the one I was replacing - Perfect. I'm using it on a medium (?) pile carpet. I've had it about a week but it seems sturdy enough to last a long time, I don't foresee any problems ahead.In the description of the item, it said it would be shipped flat. It came in a box that wasn't big enough for it to be laying flat, but WAIT! It wasn't rolled up. It was in a big box and it was just closed into the box in such a way that when I opened the box it actually jumped out of the box! It wasn't folded - no need to worry about flattening it, it came out of the box perfectly. (Jumping out of the box: think of the old joke cans that had springy "snakes" jump out of the can when you opened it. Am I dating myself with that description?).Overall, I think this is a great, sturdy product with fair pricing and with the added benefit of the laugh when I opened the box. :)UPDATE: August 19, 2022 - the mat has its first crack from continued daily use. The mat was purchase in 03/2020. I really expected this mat to last longer.

I was so impressed when I purchased this product in Feb end 2023 after trying other products which were not sturdy but looked durable but chairs won't roll on them smoothly. As I wanted to use in my office and my son's bedroom for his study table, so I bought two of this. I was very happy, excited with sturdiness and how smoothly chairs were rolling for me and my son. I thought, finally I found the best product for the price and quality I was looking for.Comes April 2023, less than 2 months, I found first cracking sound while working on my office table and rolled the chair. Then after few days, more came in. I could not believe it, felt bad and then sad as what I thought so well about it, my experience turned sour. Then I thought, it is because of my weight? Lol. I am not heavy at all. Then my son got the crack on his piece and he is just 9 years. So, weight was not the issue at all. Now , I am waiting to throw this off as the pictures show, so many cracks have developed and someday it can hurt my leg and cut it if I walk on it barefooted, as others have complained here. Please don't go by total volume-of-buying on this product or fall for it, which I fell for while shopping it. The negative reviews are genuine. Avoid it at all cost and save your bucks, time and energy. I am planning to buy now from Staples even if it cost me a bit more.
