Excellent Pump
I don't jump up & down about a new pool pump generally speaking, but this is a good product. After 20'ish years in the same home, I've gone through the pool equipment replacement rodeo a few times. So far, I have only had some flavor of Hayward product, with generally "ok" satisfaction. The last time, I only replaced the powerhead, as the pump housing itself seemed fine. This cycle, something happened to the Hayward and it sounded like a Harley driving by, not wanting to annoy the neighbors, I had to turn it off for a couple of weeks while waiting for a replacement - in the middle of winter, not many pumps "in stock'. The first attempt was a Pentair, which arrived from Amazon in about 100 pieces. I was extremely annoyed, as it was obviously a "return" sold as new, crappy packing and all, with pieces left on top of the box that UPS was polite enough to pick up off the pavement or whatever and just stack on top by the door. After returning that pile of junk, I also considered our timeline, about 4 years before we sell and leave the tax & spend haven of California, so for 4 years, I'm not really thinking another $1400 Hayward variable speed...After reading the reviews, I took a chance on the Blue Torrent, and I'm glad I did. First, this thing is quiet - like .. whisper quiet. Better than anything else I have ever had or seen at other homes. I got rid of my booster pump for the pool sweep a few years ago because I hated the clanking it made, I'm going to rethink that and look for a Blue Torrent booster this spring.Second, price, pumps are way over-priced in general, this one is fair and reasonable, particularly for the quiet/performance.Third, we have always struggled a little with pool cleanliness from the Haywards, I had assumed it was just the way it is with our large trees, etc. After about 4 days with this thing, the pool is sparkling clean. Very surprising.Fourth, I like the on-board panel. That stupid thing has always been hanging on the wall of the house, no more.. caulking gun out and I happen to be repainting some of the house this spring, so that messy fire hazard will be gone for good.Last, it is not without some challenges. The placement of the input/output is different from the Hayward Tristars. The unions are different, and the orientation of the pump had to be different to make the panel easily accessible - which wasn't a concern with the original plumbing setup (from about 35 years ago). I ended up removing the decades of unions and corners and retrofit all the way back to the three-way valves and rebuilding the plumbing setup - not a bad thing, as the old stuff had a lot of turns in it - too many. Now it is simple and nearly straight-on. This allowed me to move the pump to just underneath the roof/eave covering of the house, to give it some minor protection from the elements. I am planning to put a solar shade structure over it all anyway, but keeping it inside the rain drip line was sort of a bonus.Update - going on 2 years, still running strong and flawless. This thing has been much better than the Hayward TriStars I have had (at 3x the price). I've seen questions about the warranty, etc.. if you are a handy person like I am and can swap these out, I look at it this way -if I get 5 years out of this thing with it running 24x7 x 365 days a year in California; compared to maybe 6 or 7 years out of something that costs 3x more - who cares? It's a 2 hour Saturday morning job to swap the thing, including new plumbing. This has already earned its "keep".

They stand behind their product
I bought this variable speed pump a year ago and it runs very well and quiet, unfortunately the display went out recently. I emailed the consumer support and after a few email exchange about trouble shooting the pump, they sent me a new display. It was very easy to replace and now my pump looks like new again. I would say it is a good price, good product, and good customer services.

Energy efficiency at the right price
Replacing a Hayward Super Pump 2. It's about the same noise level when running at full speed but a higher pitched noise. At lower speed it is much quieter. Installation was easy as the pump is all pre-assembled except for the housing cover and electrical junction. One design flaw - The flanges on the lid are a bit wide so make sure you have clearance from your other equipment. Closing the lid interferes with my jandy filter.Overall easy installation and am excited to eventually see some power savings compared to my single-speed pump.

Great cheap pump for the short time, no parts available when it fails.
Bought back in July 2021, failed just 12 1/2 months later. Motor bearings went out after the seal started leaking. I can put in a new pump and a seal, but there are no parts available for it anywhere. When it worked, it worked great, quiet, spooled up nicely, and adjustable speed to idle down during the day and saved a bit on my power bill, however... whatever I saved isn't worth it as I have to replace the entire pump every 12 1/2 months. It was a pain as I had to rework all the plumbing to fit this pump, now I have to do it again because I can't find any parts for it.... Update, just got hold of Blue Torrent and, they said when parts for this pump are available they'll be on their site. You would figure a pump that's been on the market for 2 years would already have parts available. In Fact, they don't even have the model listed. Spend a little more and get a quality pump where the manufacturer stands behind it with parts. In researching parts for this pump, I've found it's been rebranded for 3 other "brands" but is the same generic pump made in China. Neither brand has replacement parts for this pump.

Self installed
After buying our first house we soon found out our pool pump need to be replaced. My husband is not a handyman but he’s an engineer and was able to install this pump by himself with a couple YouTube videos! It’s been two months and the pump works great. Multiple speeds and very quite! I recommend to take the chance and install yourself instead of paying a pool company thousands to install!

Gets the job done
The product works as promised, but have only had it for less than a month so will not know if it is a good or great value for another 8 years. When running at 3000 rpm, it is louder than my Hayward, but it's a 2 hp unit whereas my Hayward was 1.5 hp. Would be nice if it came with 1.5 inch adapters.

It’s Grrrrrrrreat!!
Excellent pump. Quiet and easy to install. I admire it every time I walk by it. My pool guy commented on how nice it was as well. He had never had heard of blue torrent pumps before and after inspecting and admiring it himself, told me I did good.

I like this pump a lot, but...
This has been a great pool pump! It even has freeze protection, which the literature at the time I researched said it didn't have that feature. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized that it did have the feature during our first night in the 30s.What I don't like about the pump is that it will sometimes fail to start. When I notice this, there is an error code that appears on the display. I then have to power down and then power back up to clear it.Setting the timer on the pump isn't all that easy, either. But, I worked through it.
