I was told by my former mechanic my car did not have a cabin air filter. Thanks to FRAM I now am not breathing in yuck debris-filled air. I told my former mechanic there was debris coming through the dash vents and he said it was probably the hose coming apart...it happens to 16 year old cars. When I ate a dead bee I was ready to buy a FRAM filter and will continue to do so every recommended interval. Learn from my humorous stupidity trusting an idiot "VW tech" - always confirm with Amazon to see if your car has cabin air filters.

For whatever reason none of the local auto parts stores in my town stock the proper cabin air filter for my 2000 Passat Wagon 1.8T. The dealership has charcoal cabin air filters, but they are $24. Took about 5 minutes to pull out the old filter, clean the area, and pop the new filter in.

This is very lightweight compare to the Mann filter. Seems like an all-paper construction product. I manage to swap out the old and replace the new. However, I immediately notice that due to its paper construction, it does not fit like a Mann filter with its spongy on the edge. That said, it fit as tight as it can. I recently applied some spray paint to the battery compartment area, with the Arm & Hammer Baking Soda and activated carbon features, I still smell the odor coming through the filter after a week. Overall, I am satisfied with the product and fitment. We will see how it performs till the next replacement cycle to determine if this is worth reordering.

I have a 99 Audi A4 and this fit perfectly. Removed the musty smell coming from my air vents and improved overall air quality inside the cabin. Very pleased with this item. Got another one for my 02 Acura TL and did the same. Highly recommended.

Be very careful Amazon's garage indicates this is the correct part for your 2001 VW. The primary image even looks exactly like the filter I pulled out of my car. EXCEPT the filter I received does not look anything like the filter in the primary product image. The dimmensions of this part are 17x8 it is very long and skinny. The part I need is 11x8 and looks exactly like the product image used to promote this product. Even worse Amazon is not accepting there error and I must return the part at my own expense even though their description is misleading.

would have worked great if it had fit my 2001 VW Passat as indicated in the listed ad...it was about 2x too long!!!
