Alfred's Basic Piano Library Praise Hits Complete, Bk 2 & 3: For the Later Beginner (Alfred's Basic Piano Library, Bk 2 & 3)

Perfect for my level 2/3 piano students. Nice to have more up to date Christian songs.

My student enjoyed playing songs that were familiar and the level of difficulty made it challenging but not too discouraging.

I am embarrassed to give the book to my student. It has been folded over and doesn't lay flat.

I believe many, if not most, of the songs have been transposed into signature keys other than the original songs. And the transposed versions do not sound right to me. I would not recommend this book for those who know the songs because if you play them the way the notes are in this book, the songs will not sound right. I would not recommend this book to beginners who are unfamiliar with the songs because they will learn to play them incorrectly from what they will hear in churches or on CDs. The songs have been simplified for the beginner, but they transposed (evidently) trying to avoid too many sharps or flats so the songs just do not sound the way I am used to hearing them.

I really like the Alfred basic piano books. I have a 14 year old student that is a beginning player and thought she would enjoy playing tunes she has heard before. They are simple enough that they are not frustrating to the student to accomplish playing.

My daughter is just finishing up Level 2 books, so this is a great book to have some slightly easier songs for her and some slightly challenging songs. Plus, she loves to play songs that she can sing along to. This is the second Praise Hits book we've bought, and I'm sure we'll continue to buy them in higher levels as she continues on.
