Somewhat dated but still informative for the beginner.
As one might expect, components undergo rapid changes and even a book even a year or two old does not discuss some of the latest innovations in computer hardware. Nonetheless, this book gives a good general understanding of the processes involved in building your own computer for those who haven't done it before. (Advice: Take your time in researching, planning and building. Mistakes get expensive.)

If you lack confidence and are Afraid
This book helps - but unless you're incapable of actually plugging pieces together and doing research for the parts you need, this book is like reading the news, most of which that is actually reported can be stated in 25 words or less but goes on so long you stop reading it but still have to pay for it anyway
