can you stop the watch then restart for adding minutes?

Yes. That's called "split timing". You can stop and start infinite times for a cumulative total or you can have "splits", timing two laps (or rounds or...) concurrently. For example, I swam two lengths if the pool in :01:37 and my coach hit SPLIT at the end if the first length. When I got out of the pool, I could see that my first length was 45 seconds and my second was 52, for a total of :01:37. Does that help?

Can you disable the BEEP?

the beep is the alarm. you have to press two or three buttons at once to disable it.

What kind of battery does it take and can the owner replace it?

Once the set time is reached is there some kind of audio sound to alert?

This model doesn't have a "countdown" feature. It's a stopwatch only. There's no audio sound on the pro survivor model. Just a good, tactile and audible click from the buttons.
