Great quality and ease of use.

This item was requested by my son who was serving in Afghanistan. He is in an Engineering Battalion and they are doing a lot of building over there. Amazon provided excellent service in delivering this product to my son and several other Servicemen who also ordered this product. It served them well.

I'm a carpenter and do residential work and go to school for the carpenters union. I do layouts almost everyday using my chalkline constantly in school, and at work. The day I got it I pulled that line all the way out poured some chalk in and did it about 2 more times. I've been using it for a week it has never jammed on me got tangled up inside or any of that crap. I seriously question if some of these people know what they're doing when they ciomplain about this line. Stanley fatmax line is great and recommend it to anyone who needs a good line, this is smooth, easy to roll up and pull out, and leaves Nice sharp line. Much better than Irwin, Dewalt and Tajima lines. GREAT BUY!

While this chalk line looks like it could stand up to some punishment it's a bit difficult to use which isn't something you want when your trying to frame up a wall or work quickly. Once you loosen the head a few turns it pulls out just fine but the winding mechanism seems to stick a lot and isn't very smooth. I've only used it a few times so far but compared to the chalk line I was using from my dads tool box a couple months ago this one is just kind of a pain. Maybe it needs to be broken in? I dunno but on the job site that's kinda the last thing you need. They do give you at least 1 and 1/2 or 2 full loads of chalk which is pretty nice. Didn't really need the sharpy but hey, I wont complain about it. All-in-all there's not a lot you can say about a chalk line. It does work, it just doesn't work very smoothly. [Update, I bought the standard Stanley chalk line. Same brand but not the FatMax version. Works SO much better. Line pulls smooth and works just as you'd expect a line to work. It also came with just as much chalk and a clip on line level. The fat max version came with a sharpie, no brainer there.]

I work alone most of the time so having a chalk line is a must. This set has just what I need. The chalk reel loads easily and it's nice to have a marker right there when needed. Good price for a set too.

This chalk line can be summed up in one word: terrible. Like other reviewers, I have numerous other FatMax tools, and all work well. This line is extremely sticky, making it VERY slow and cumbersome to let out and reel in. Chalk goes everywhere, line sucks, basically as soon as I get to the hardware store to buy a new one, this is going in the trash. Gimmicks include some Sharpie and a viewing window to see how much chalk you have. Do not fall for it. A true waste of 8 dollars or whatever it is.

Great for the price. It is just a string after all. The pen isn't nearly the quality of a Sharpie so don't get too excited over it.

Great chalk line with a very strong string. Replaced my irwin chalk line with this one. The line carries lots of chalk, which gives a thick chalk line. Better for framing or drywall, but not great for fine work

The chalk line has a pretty tight fit, as long as you don't pull too fast - it works well. The chalk works too. Overall a good product.

Great simple product. Chalk is good quality. Line is strong and will last a lifetime
