Though I long since heard of the legendary Jewish poet Yehuda Amichai, only just now did I sat down to read him. Dear Lord, what I've been missing! This is absolutely one of the most brilliant books of poetry I've read in years.

This is the finest collection of Amichai's poetry and I am so glad it is available on Kindle. Finally!

The famous late Israeli poet Yehuda Amichai (1924-2000) is considered by many people in Israel and internationally as Israel’s greatest modern poet. His poetry is relevant for all people and cultures, poignant, thought-provoking, and easy to read because it generally contains no esoteric illusions to ancient classical events that seem to be a requirement in most poetry today. Even people who generally dislike poetry will like his poems. This book contains many of them. Even brilliant in translation. Heartfelt - a true poet's soul.

Amichai has an underlying tone in his poetry, almost a melancholy strain, that infuseshis work with added gravitas. It reminds of T.S. Eliot's work, which is high praise indeed.It is the kind of poetry one returns to many times and always with greater insight intothe human condition.

Yehuda Amichai's poetry transports me to another realm.
