Time Will Tell
Spring fitted onto an old Sam's Club recliner. The previous spring that I installed in 2014, lasted 7 years. We'll see how long this one will hold up. A bit of a pain installing. I used a long screwdriver and leveraged the spring over and onto its place. After several attempts, success! Tip: You might wear a pair of leather gloves just in case the spring bites your hand.

Low quality springs
Failed ! Less than four months after purchase and installed on my recliner, the rubberized end of the spring has opened up and fell off the recliner. I have two of these, one on each side so, let's just say I'm not feeling too sure about the other spring either. I have bent the stretched end back and put it back on the chair is fell off of (temporary fix) But, now the opposite end is failing too ! These springs are the same size as my chairs stock springs but, they are cheap and very weak, especially considering the stock springs lasted 10+ years compared to this springs 4 months !

Not as easy as it sounds!
I ordered this 5 inch Replacement Recliner Sofa Sectional Mech Mechanism Tension Spring for the recliner mechanism on our couch. The spring had broken and the end piece was missing so I just measured the 5 inch spring and ordered this product. What we really needed was a 7 inch productReplacement Recliner Sofa Sectional Mech Mechanism Tension Spring 7 inch. The part that was broken off was the additional 2 inches of straight wire with the hook. Unfortunately, as my husband tried to wrangle this part on, the plastic coating was torn on the 5" product, making it non-returnable, so we basically wasted the $20. We did, however, order what we hope to now be the correct part. There is nothing wrong with this part...it's just the wrong part. We learned to look at the spring with the footrest in the raised position, not the closed position. That gives you a picture of the replacement part you really need. User mistake!I'm writing this because there was not a lot of info I could easily find on replacing these springs - the manufacturer of the couch is in bankruptcy and they did not have a parts catalog available on their web site. Even with double-paying for the part - it's worth it not to lose the reclining ability of my leather couch. I'm glad Recliner-Handles.com sells on Amazon...it made the process somewhat more easy!

Only for professionals, You won't be able to install this yourself.
I can't find a way to be able to get this on. It doesn't come with any tool or instructions. It is too stiff to be able to put in on so I'm going to have to hire somebody to do it. For such a small item it is also too expensive considering there is no way to get it on without hiring somebody. If I'd known that it would be impossible to get it on myself I wouldn't have bought it.
