Let’s go back to where we belongHaving bid Lena farewell, Shin and the surviving members of the Spearhead squadron continue into the heart of Legion territory. There, they endure countless hardships until they’re rescued by the Federal Republic of Giad, a reformed nation that offers them a second chance at a peaceful life. But it isn’t long before a sense of duty calls the Eighty-Six back to the battlefield. Choosing to enlist in the military, they willingly walk back through the gates of hell, this time joined by a peculiar new ally-Frederica Rosenfort: a haughty young girl with a rare ability and wisdom far beyond her years. Review: Amazing Books !! - What i like about this book is the story that tells from shin side is very descriptive and readers can imagine how the atmosphere are, for the juggernaut illustrations i like it a lot because for me its possible in our world to create this such machine (not to imaginative robots). For character building i think the survived member of 86 already have this “new” life for them in the story but still the main story focus is with shin as MC. I really recomended this book for readers that like novel genre such as politic, war, drama, and a touch of family and love. Review: 86 - LOVE THIS NOVEL!!

Couldn't put this Volume Down
Great read, if you loved the first volume and after reading the epilogue were wondering how things ended up there, then this volume will give you half the answer. We get to see our beloved 86 young soldiers enjoying a momentary peace only to go back to the Battlefield on their own will. Author has you wondering a little on whether people that only knew conflict for most of their life can live a peaceful life, but only a little, the rest of the volume is action packed and quite a suspense full read.

Great Sequel
Great continuation of the story, enjoyed the world building, and a look of the characters off the battlefield even if it was for a moment.

Fluff, filler, and Character Development
That’s what this book is and based on the afterword, Volume 3 will be too. I’m not a fan of everything needs to be told. Volume 1’s Epilogue was perhaps the strongest single section of prose in that book and it ignored the holy words all writers are supposed to live by: Show. Don’t tell. Lena’s passionate POV of a survivor saying everything she did to help the 86 and the Alba despite all the barriers in her way was all we needed. This book and volume 3 it seems exists in that time skip between the final chapter of the first book and the epilogue. It told a story (to me) that didn’t need to be told though the author is certainly talented and does research so I’m sure that it builds towards the larger narrative. Unfortunately, that larger narrative introduced an insufferable loli who is by far the worst character in the series. I like Frederica’s backstory. She’s suitably tragic and fits the setting quite well. I don’t need to have her as a main character. Especially when it comes at the cost of the other 86s getting next to no page time. Those are the characters I want to read about and how they’re dealing with the Federacy. I was so happy whenever Raiden got his POVs because Shin is just not a compelling protagonist without a foil and Frederica doesn’t fit that role. I’m aware she’s probably important if there comes a post Legion plot but as is, I just find her and this story unnecessary. Especially given that my gut tells me the Federacy might be just as bad if not worse than the Republic but that might be my cynical attitude preferring scorn to pity and the climax really showed they have no idea what they’re dealing with, haha. At least the Republic didn’t call them Monsters. That’s not to say I disliked it. My headline comes across with negative connotations yet all three elements are needed to ultimately tell a good story. And given the limited page time the surviving members of Spearhead had, it shows that it wasn’t required in this specific time period. You could have inserted it anywhere at any time and it gives the same vibes and character development they deserve. But hey, I haven’t looked ahead too much. It’s probably very important that the Federacy comes to realize our protagonists are monsters. Maybe we did need this buffer of them being pitied and misunderstood for the greater narrative. Anywho... All Hail Bloody Reina. Here’s hoping we’ll get some of her side of this time period because Shin is incredibly incomplete and boring without someone to reflect off of.

Read this book already!
As always, Asato Asato kills it again! Absolutely righteous! I have already started reading this entire series again. Perfect balance of action, drama, romance, and comedy. (The romance takes a back seat till futher in the series but it is well worth the wait). Please support this woman she is so AWESOME.

This entire story is truly my favorite work of fiction of all time. I would love to leave a more detailed review but I just NEED to starts volume 3 so I’ll leave you with this. Perhaps I’ll come back later and add more. Please read this series! Or listen to it in audio book! Or watch the anime! Or better yet, do all three (Starting with the anime).
