Okay, this is a manual hand pump so you have to set your expectations accordingly. I used it to extract 5 quarts of oil from my 5.0L Volvo Penta boat engine. I have the hose type bib on my dipstick tube so being able to screw this pump right onto it was a real plus. The other nice thing about this pump kit is that if you don't have that type of dipstick tube, there is an adapter included with a sturdy, long, thin hose which you can snake into your tube and get right down into the oil pan. It took about 40 to 50 pumps to finally get the oil flowing, and I'll admit that I thought the thing was useless at first because of this, but once the pump was primed and all the air was out of the block, the oil started moving pretty fast. It took no more than 10 or 15 minutes after that to pump out all of the oil using a moderate rate of pumping. It's lightweight and very easy to use. What helped me I think was that I warmed up the engine a little bit first so that the oil would flow more easily. I think some of the complaints written about this product was because some people did not do this first.

So right off the bat I read the review another customer left on this item as I normally do before I buy anything. The customer said he replaced the mid tube to the bottom part of the pump to make it stronger (but you actually you shouldnt do that because it can break the pump). The customer also said that you needed to pump the pump consistantly to pull all the oil. So I said screw it and ordered it anyway.The pump was AMAZING. The pump primed itself and was VERY SIMPLE to use. All i did was pull my dipstick out run the smallest line (it came with 3 separate sized lines) down the tube till it hit the bottom of the oil pan and then I pumped. Yes it was a little tiring on the arms and it took me about an hour to do 5.5 quarts of oil but for the worth of it it was very simple. The mechanics behind it as well and the soft tube was very substantial in the usage. When you pull the pump to pull the oil up it would squeeze the soft rubber tube almost closed. When you brought the pumps pull all the way to the top it locks itself in place and does not automatically pump back down. While in its highest position it lets the air thats trapped inside out and allows it to easily fill with fluid. then you pump it out and allow the process to go over once again.I would HIGHLY recommend this product to ANYONE who has had stripped oil pan bleed bolts or have no access to underneath the vehicle to do a simple oil change.

This particular model seemed like the perfect solution for extracting oil from a marine diesel engine. It however, was not. The seals all over this pump were of poor quality and failed, this allowed hot diesel oil to ooze from every possible place on the pump down onto the floor. Thankfully, I had placed a drop cloth to catch any drips that may occur from the process. I had not expected to need it due to a total failure of the pump. I would not recommend this product.

Nothing against the seller, they were great and sent second one immediately. Impressed by their customer service.I read the reviews, though skeptical decided to give it a try.First device, Suction was none. Tried with water, tried submerged hose. Nothing.Replacement sent, arrived the next day. Suction was barely but still didn't work. I'm all for pumping 10,000 times if it worked but it just couldn't. Some of you may think I don't know how to use it but after many videos to confirm I was doing it right, the device was simply inoperable.The concept is simple and great. But you are better off finding a used large size shampoo bottle pump, hook some hose up and pump pump pump, you'll get more out than this device.Once again, not knocking the seller. They were great but the devices just don't work.

i purchased this pump to use to pull out engine oil from my car engine. the assembly was very easy but extreme energy is required to get the desired suction and the pump could only be used for short periods before my arms ached too badly to go on. cleaning was a nightmare. in the end, i'd recommend this pump for transfering lighter liquids - diesel fuel type viscosity and water not for denser liquids like engine oils. i don't use it much.

Cheaply made. Took a long time to pump the oil out of my car. I was getting tired of pumping the darn thing and it felt like it didn't get all of the oil out! I later used it to pump the gas out of my lawnmower and the seals seamed to dry and the pumping became very loud, squeaky, and very stiff! I'm sure there's something better out there! Threw it away after two uses!

I had high hopes for this but was ultimately unhappy.I was draining differential fluid from my car. Your mileage may vary with different fluids. Pulled a little bit but by no means drained it.Ended up using the good clear tubing and mouth siphoned it.

Works good for filling fluids while lying on your back under your car. I did have trouble with the hoses popping off until I put some hose clamps on.

I pumped and pumped for at least 5 minutes and not a drop. Useless tool. Don't buy this pump!!!!

The most useless product i've ever bought. It took me almost over an hour to get some of the oil out. Each time you pump it to extract the oil, only tiny bit of oil comes out. Also i made a lot of mess using it. There was oil everywhere after i was done. If there was a way i could get my money back i would surely request to get it back.

This is complete crap, i pumped for 2 h the oil of my boat and never worked, not even 1 drop, i finaly bought a electric one and worked great with lot less effort

No suction, do not buy this item!
