EXACTLY what I wanted !! 5 Star...
I used some creativity and mounted a 20" industrial floor standing fan minus all the parts included with it, ... into a very strong mounted whole house exit fan, simple design that's strong, no vibration, no chattering, no nothing, and adjustable for future fans when this one finally passes. This replaced a 60 year old HOBART (Sears?) whole house exit fan with a separate motor, fan belt, and fan tower all self enclosed, that I grew up with, that was fancy for the time with it's own mechanical timer. That timer worked for 60 years and did when I sold it to a collector. I've tried a few other manual timers.A mechanical timer is very basic, not much to go wrong, work perfectly, lo-tech, WORKS, mine never gets warm or seems to be exerting effort nor any odor like it's getting warm, and from experience these basic timers can last years. Turn it to where you want is, and forget it.I didn't want a bunch of buttons to push for a simple task.I like that. I bought 3 more after analyzing my first one of these under load for a month. Ran a couple tests and temps, under different loads (hi versus lo on the control) -- and this rascal passed all tests, easily. Time will tell. I will update if this fails before it should. So far this is a champ.Specifically - I am using this timer with a 1/4 hp, 20" "so-called" Industrial fan made where all of them are. The fan works well and being in a separate back room 15 feet away, almost inaudible or very tolerable, and I only need the Lo speed setting. This timer does not buzz, at all. Zip. Your fan does not make ANY buzzing sound as a result of using this timer, as some fan "speed controllers" do. These fans are meant to run warm but not hot, and mine does.*** You must provide adequate open windows or screen doors AIR FLOW to use this 20" fan exhaust setup, or the fan may get warm trying to pull MORE AIR through the home, than you are permitting - with a load to the motor. Open more windows OR buy a 16" fan and not a 20" to match it to the job you have for it. In an 1,100 sq ft first floor with open windows and screen back door, I get a WONDERFUL, tactile, air flow throughout the entire first floor. This timer is perfect for day use, and when you go to bed and want it to shut off in 3 hours. One twist down to 3, done. Buy a couple.I simply turn this timer dial clockwise down from 12, o whatever amount of time................... you want the fan to continue to operate, ... then shut off by itself - you being long asleep. Before I go to bed I turn it from it's starting point of 12, to the right or clockwise, and stop on number 3. The fan will start to rotate and 3 hours later it quietly clicks off, with a small sound, loud enough that in my sleep I heard it, but not enough to fully wake me up. Nice. All is well ............... this timer works, is ezy, has zero electrical control or heat issues with a capable 20" whole house window mounted exit fan - to pull air through your entire home's open windows on cool nights or dryer days in the spring and fall.I like that it's plug is the grounded kind, and even in an older home with a two wire wiring system, the plug itself has the ground lug, making for a better more secure contact not likely to vibrate out or by a passing dog leg.Knowing something about these devices, this one at present looks like a good tool at the right price. Highly recommended for the job it was built to do. This is not made for serious, heavy duty, industrial use but is ideal for the homeowner.

Reliable mechanical timer for desiccant drying oven
I used this timer on a small, inexpensive toaster oven. The oven is used to dry desiccant for 3D printer filament boxes and needs extended times of several hours which the oven doesn't support. The oven is set to temperature, always ON and then the timer sets the time duration. Works perfectly and is cost effective.

Versatile Programmable Countdown Timer for AC Loads
This timer is just what I had been looking for. A simple, reliable, countdown timer switch to control mains voltage to various devices. My primary usage is to control charging time to rechargeable devices such as: cell phones, electric shavers, or any rechargeable electronic device. Just set the ON time on the timer, plug in the device's charging adapter, and plug in the timer. No more overcharging and hopefully longer lasting batteries.I chose this timer over an electronic timer because its design is based on reliable existing ON/OFF mechanical cycle timers. If there is a momentary interruption of power the timer just turns on at its time setting before power interruption, or worst case the timer turns on in the OFF state and the timer wheel must be reset. Electronic timers sometimes do not do well with momentary power interruption and may come on in an undesired ON state that may last for hours. When the timer shuts OFF no more power is drawn. No phantom load like with an electronic timer when OFF. Almost any load can be timed up to 1/2 HP, 15 amp resistive, or tungsten lamps up to 8 amps. Timing range is 15 minutes to 12 hours in 15 minute increments. These ranges are another plus over electronic timers. The timer must reset for each use as time settings are not remembered. This is not an issue for me because each time I use is different depending on what I an powering/recharging. The device is also silent when operating, even when right next to it. The only noise is when the timer finishes and there is a slight click as the internal relay releases.I have two of these and will be getting more to use with unattended fans, heaters, and a coffee maker.Update: August 15, 2016I now have three of these timers and they are great! The last one received will be dedicated as a travel timer to time charging of my smartphone, laptop, Kindle Reader, electric razor, and a small rechargeable flashlight..I also have a small extension cord with a three receptacle end so up to three devices with similar charge rimes and be plugged in together to the timer. I am hoping that using a timed charge will decrease stress on the batteries and extend their lives and devices lives that have non-replaceable batteries. I hate disposable electronics that is junk simply because the battery died. One of my electric razors died a early death due to overcharging the battery ($90, ouch).

Very useful timer
Works great with humidifiers! My only complaint is that it is hard to remove plugs from the outlet. Decent value and easy to use.

works great but a little tricky to figure out how to use it.
A little tricky at first to figure out how it works, but once you've done that it is very easy to use. I use it to charge my car. My car is supposed to stop charging automatically anyway, but I don't want it charging in the garage while i am sleeping upstairs. Thus I set it to turn off at 9:30. It works great.

A Countdown Timer Provides accurate control
This is countdown timer provided the the means to precisely control the charging cycle of batteries and eliminate the potential of overcharging. This provided a fail safe control of a critical function. The unit was simple to operate and fit the installation perfectly. A well made timer that provided the control needed at a great price,
