Great drone with a couple of things to be aware of
This is a great drone! The UpAir 2 is an intermediate/pro model drone at a great price for its capabilities and battery time. It's strikingly similar in look and function to a DJI Phantom 3 with some extras...like 3d and 4K recording and at a lower cost. This is my first drone and after a few flights I'm flying like a pro. I've also noticed that it's possible to use some Phantom 3 accessories (like 9450 propellers) but I'm sure it's best to use accessories that are made intentionally for the UpAir 2. Here are a few things to be aware of:1) There's a printed set-up guide included in the packaging but you'll have to go to the company's website for the PDF version of the complete instruction manual.2) Ensure you calibrate the drone before attempting to fly it or you WILL crash it. The paper guide and app illustrations were a little lackluster compared to a great Youtube video I found but once the drone is calibrated it's awesome. During the calibration, pay attention in the app to which way the legs are facing and complete the steps within the time limit or it will error out on you.3) The instruction manual states that Android users should connect to the control system by using the included USB cable and using "USB Tethering" mode. This wouldn't work for me. Instead, I connected to the unit via wi-fi (just like searching for and connecting to any wi-fi connection) and it works like a champ. I found that method on Youtube as well.4) Read all of the instructions before trying to turn anything on, off, or before charging. The on/off sequences are a bit unconventional but instructions are clear once you read them and try.5) The charging unit CAN charge both the controller and the drone at the same time which is a plus for this model., unlike the UpAir One.6) The app works great! I did notice there are 2 versions...one is called UpAir and one is called Upair New Version. I used the new one and had no problems. Again, read about the on/off sequencing first to ensure your phone or tablet will recognize the units.7) When you do finally get it in the air it will seem like it doesn't go as high or as far as advertised but that's because it's in "Beginner Mode" by default. You can change that in the advanced settings in the app. If you don't know about FAA limitations on height and range for your area, read up first. Fly responsibly!8) It's a drone...if you're a beginner, you're going to crash it at some point. Boats leak, babies cry, drones crash. If this is your first model, don't worry, you'll get better with more practice.9) Customer support has been incredible. Both Catherine and Karen have e-mailed promptly to answer any questions and they even followed up later to hear about my flights. I didn't have luck with the one phone call I made (no answer) but e-mail support has been exceptional.Again, I think this drone is awesome. It's a real pleasure to fly. I've attached still shots that I never would have been able to capture from the ground - these are shots of an osprey in its tree nest about 40 feet high in the Florida panhandle. Yes, there are some techy things that are particular about the drone, but let's be honest - if you're buying a drone, you're likely already familiar with technical things and look forward to mastering the challenge. At first I was a little uncertain about buying a brand I hadn't heard of before but I'm very, very happy with this drone. I would definitely buy it again.- Gregg2020 Edit: I want to re-iterate what a great company and drone this is. I had a problem with the drone and the customer support was once again outstanding. Thank you again for the great service! - Gregg

Need to know
First thing is first. Good unit and worth the money. Just wish they would have spent a little more time with the directions. Being new to the world of drones, this was a puzzle. I had bought several SD cards with no luck of getting the camera to recognize it. The SD card that worked for me is a 32G C10 U1/2/3. Before inserting this card into the unit, it needs to be formatted to FAT32. -If you don't know how to format, you will need to insert the SD card into a computer. Select Computer and right click on the SD card on the left hand side. Select Format and set your settings to FAT32. A quick format will work just fine. After Format has been completed, plug it into the bottom of the camera on the drone. After connecting your phone to the controller, using the given data cord, turn the wifi on and select UPAIR...… You will need to have the drone on for 30 seconds or so to see your drones name on your Wifi selection list. You will need to download the app on your phone. No need to use the QR barcode in the instructions. These will not take you to the app. You will need to do that leg work yourself. If using an iPhone, you may need to do a little more work to get it working. Probably due to the extra security Apple has. I have Samsung I did not have any issues. Not to say that you will but there is always more red tape to higher security.Note: Do not plug your USB cord to the camera itself. Some Drone Brands will allow you to do this. This is not one of them. This is used to set up Camera parameters when debugging the camera for the engineers. Also, do not plug in the remote control and the drone battery to the charger at the same time. This could damage the unit. Also, to adjust the camera up and down, the knob on the top right will take care of that for ya.The spare batteries are not yet available for this model. UPair1 are the only ones available at this time. They are not compatible.Hope this helped. Big thanks to Neil at Customer Support for helping me get this figured out!

First one run away, second loses camera connection.
UPDATE 12/31The drone loose camera connection after a couple of minutes of flight. It seems that if I take a photo or video it loses it quicker.I have tried to link it to an iPhone and my S10 as I thought it could be the phone. It very disappointing to lose it every time. You turn off everything and it connects again.***********On my second flight it flew away without RC reaction. We could saw on the phone how it run away so it didn't loose connection. I am still trying to understand what happened. I was lucky it got stuck on a tree and I could get it back.I tried today to turn it on again to fly and it didn't work. After turning it on smoke started from 2 of the propellers.Customer service contacted me and offered me a full refund or drone exchange once I am back home.Great service.
