This is the only one of these that claims 2048 dpi, but I cannot find any reference to this spec on the new ones, is this accurate?

I'm not positive of the actual dpi of it, but I've had a few of em an they're good quality mice. They have a button above the ball that switches the dpi for fine movement, but idk the exact dpi of each setting...

I need left handed and it seems Logitech does not sell it. Am I correct?

It does not seem that Logitech has a left-handed variations of this particular MX ERGO. However, they do have other models (not Ergonomic) that are ambidextrous, meaning they can be used by both right and left-handed people.

It's been a while since I returned the one I had, but I'm positive it has programmable buttons. You program them through the software you use to connect it to your computer.
