I replaced a battery in one of my APC units and discovered that the fit is so precise that I had to use a metal file to reduce the overall width by about .005". Even then it was a very tight fit. There will always be variations / tolerances in manufacturing. I discovered that it was not worth replacing the batteries. I can purchase new UPS type battery backups (typically on sale) for about the same price as a replacement battery and not have to struggle with hand-fitting issues. I know that those who sell these replacement batteries will not be thrilled with my feedback / assessment. However, I am a handyman, have an extensive background in manufacturing and so on. I use about five UPSs currently in my house right now. I no longer purchase the APC brand because other brands work just as well and I can usually find them on sale.
