I got this a year ago and just started to use it. I did a lot of research and these are my findings. This device is IPL and RF (radio frequency). It can be used on dark skin as well as blonde, red, grey, or white hair too. I have red hair so I wanted to try it because traditional IPL will not work for me. Because I have light hair I have to wax or epilate before use. If you have ever epilated then you know it hurts at first. Now that I am used to epilating I feel I can use the laser more consistently. If you have light hair you first must wax or epilate and then immediately treat the area with 2-3 passes. For light hair the RF zaps the blood in the hair follicle after waxing or epilating. I also read you likely need 14 weekly sessions for light hair to see the same results as dark hair sessions. This is a commitment and you need to be consistent. The IPL is not as strong as other lasers because this model is made to treat skin and hair tones that other models can not (elos technology). I will update with results when I complete my sessions.

I purchased this item specifically because it said it would help with all colors of hair. I have used it on my lower legs for 7 weeks and been very happy with the result. You do have to be careful when using that you are getting all the skin. I had a few streaks of hair that I missed and had to re-treat. I have dark hair and it grows pretty fast. I will be able to go on vacation and not have to worry about shaving every other day. I have used it on my chin where I have light/white hairs coming in, and have not noticed a great difference. I will continue to work on that area. I have used on my underarms for about 10 weeks and am really happy with the results. I have medium toned skin.

MY experience is not a recommendation for you. It is only my experience and I am not offering any advice, diagnosis, treatments, or anything else. With that said, here is my experience: I used this for the suggested time interval at the suggested strength and had some reduction noticeable but not impressive. I watched several YouTube videos at varying credibility and quality about the topic both before and after starting this. I realized the home product is so much less potent than the store treatments you pay for (DUH). I continued using it for more than a month past the recommended series of treatments. On my brown skin, it cannot be ramped up to high doses so it took more frequent passes (more than 2-3 passes) per treatment. I definitely have noticed the differences. I also have tattoos and varicose veins that I avoided treating so I can see very clearly an untreated area before vs a regularly treated area months later. My pretreatment was SHAVE, not wax. Waxing pulls out the hair root and takes the hair away. There is no remaining hair with pigment to focus the treatment on. My general approach was slow, low, and consistent. Regardless of how the results have turned out, and how adamant I was about following pretreatment cleaning and shaving regimens, my cartridge has collected tiny hair pieces UNDER the glass/plastic screen where the laser passes through to the skin. I think there is something else going on there with the seal. I'll connect with the site and see what options there are.

I used this product for over 6 months and there was NO hair removal. Waste of time and money. The description says use for 7 weeks to see results, which is outside the return window. The seller and manufacturer would not honor the one year warranty. The phone number on the box is 1(877)651-1177 which gives you a never ending survey and then hangs up on you, them website on the box to contact is iluminagebeauty.com which is a non-working address. This product is so fake it makes me sick that I wasted so much time trying it. The seller should be ashamed!

I’m African-American and have been using this product off and on for years now because it is one of the few products that is FDA approved for deep skin with dark hair.I went to a dermatologist for Traditional laser treatment that had supposedly been approved for deep skin tones to improve the appearance of a scar and after four treatments, I lost all of the pigment in the scar and surrounding area for a few months. Temporary Vitiligo, it really scared me and I was happy to see my rich pigment return!I think that it’s important to know that this product works by shooting light at a specific frequency down the hair shaft in an effort to kill the hair bulb deep within the skin.It works best when used on freshly shaved and/or tweezed skin on a regular basis at the highest intensity setting.The area being treated at one time is small because the device has a small treatment window so it is time consuming, especially when I include my legs. I treat underarms, face bikini area and legs when I can.I started with the lowest setting and worked my way up. It’s not totally painless, it feels like tiny electrical shocks on my skin. Although the highest setting works the best, sometimes I use the lowest or medium setting on a daily basis which does not hurt at all. I pass over each area at least three times turning the device in different directions to be certain that every inch is treated. It’s the best treatment that I’ve had so far. No pigment loss and some hair shafts no longer make hair. The hair that is made is finer. Persistence is the key with this device.

The product that's advertised says elos quartz while the one I got just says elos so apparently there are different versions. Also it doesn't have the epilator, precision adapter, and goggles it's supposed to come with.***The customer service displayed by iluminage was superb! They were very nice and responded quickly. They graciously fixed the issue so I have now given them 3 stars. I will come back and alter my rating if I notice a difference with this product.
