Canon Accessory
Fits perfectly! Does not weigh very much so it is a perfect accessory. It doesn’t effect the image and is perfect.

Good lens hood
The lens hood was appropriately priced. It came within a reasonable amount of time and it fit. I like the design as well as the clip/lock that holds it in place.

Affordable lens hood
I have a variety of camera lenses. The pro-level Canon brand (EF L-series) all have genuine Canon hoods that were included with the lens. My other Canon EF-S and EF lenses have all been equipped by me with third-party lens hoods from companies like JJC. Functionality is identical. Most expensive hoods have a coating of thin non-reflective black "velour" coating on the inside of the hood. This JJC lens hood has a non-reflective black matte finish inside. There's a huge difference in price between a genuine Canon brand hood and a good replacement like this JJC hood. Don't ask me why, it's a mystery. As many newer lens hoods do, this JJC hood locks into position and has a pushbutton release to unlock and remove the hood. I shot several hundred images in sunlight and reflections off store windows recently with the hood attached to my 55mm f1.8 lens. The hood worked perfectly where I needed the stray light blocked.

The gap in the JJC hood isn't an issue. Even Canon's OEM hoods have gaps that leak light.
I've read some reviews stating the gap lets light through is an issue. Well as it turns out I've seen no light leaks in any of my images. I used my laser to see where the light that does come through where it goes. It just moves straight out from the camera towards the subject. The light doesn't enter the lens. I check my other lens hood from Canon and some of them also have a similar gap. The Canon OEM hoods have a slightly smaller gap but still there and light does pass. I have no issue with light gaps in the OEM hoods. The JJC hood has frosting on the inside which reduces glare from any light bouncing in. There is also a decorative frosting on the outside that matches my 50mm lens. Nice touch for an inexpensive hood. It replaces another hood (I forgot what brand it was) I had on my R5 that didn't have the frosting which broke when my camera rolled off my bed onto the carpet. (Of course, the R5 was unharmed as it's a full metal body. Whew!) I have to say I'm very impressed with the quality of the JJC hood. I didn't want to buy a pricy OEM hood for a cheap EF 50mm lens. This is my second JJC product as the very comfortable JJC wrist strap which is attached to my R5. I'm very happy with both of their products and I will try out more of their products in the future.(Disclosure: I'm a professional wedding and portrait photographer. The camera pictured is a Canon R5 with a battery grip. The lens is the basic EF 50mm f/1.8 lens that you can buy for about $150 bucks. To make all my EF lenses attached to the R5 I use the Canon adapter with a control ring. The reason I use this setup is it's much lighter than my RF 50mm f/1.2 lens when I do street photography as a hobby.)

Excellent quality!
I really like the build quality of JJC products in general the price is great and they fit like they should and look good. If you are looking for a budget hood that gets the job done without breaking the bank you should try one of these lens hoods. Obviously you here reading this for a reason so just do it buy one you wont regret it. I have purchased several of this for used and new lenses I have purchase and they work out great, they are reversible and easy to use and pack. I'm very happy with the JJC products i have and recommend them for their attention to quality and price.
