Good Fan - Good price.
I bought this fan to replace a fan that died after many, many years; it speaks to its durability. It served me so well that I bought the same fan again. The fan is a little noisy, but no more than any fan I've had in the same price range. It doesn't wake me up or keep me awake. As you turn the level down, it gets quieter and quieter. It is set at the height I want it to be, and it doesn't slide down. It blows strongly and keeps me cool. I seldom have to turn on the air conditioner, and that saves a lot of money. I've had this fan for about three months now, and it is performing as well as the previous fan. I'm sure it will last at least as long as the previous fan. I don't have a remote control and I don't need one.

Super fan, but perhaps not for everyone
This fan was a great buy. It's nearly perfect for my own needs, but I'll list its qualities just in case some of them might not work so well for you.It wasn't difficult to assemble. The hardest part was getting the front cage to snap on properly, but even that only took a few tries. And since the cage just hooks together rather than needing screws, popping it off to clean the blade will be a breeze. (Although, there's not much of a hook to those hooks, so I don't plan to pop the cage off any more than I absolutely have to. If those hooks wear down or break, then that's that.) Also, all you need to put it together is your own two hands. No tools needed. It's very powerful. It moves a great deal of air, even on low (I haven't gone past medium yet; I'm afraid it might blow the cat across the room on high!), which is a relief. For two weeks when my A/C was out, I needed a fan that could cool me off even though the air it was moving was hot and humid. This fan blows with such force that even warm air movement is refreshing. And its force means you can set it at a fair distance and still feel it, but it's also strong enough to blow papers and stuff around if they're in the fan's path, even when they aren't particularly close to it.The oscillator has a wide swing to it, about 90 degrees, which I suppose could either be a negative or a positive. If you want it to swing but still stay relatively contained at a small angle, you may not care for this. On the other hand, it's perfect when you have a small area of cool air (like a new portable a/c with a fairly puny blower) and want to distribute it far and wide. The cord is fairly short—rather shorter than I would've liked, honestly. I didn't measure it, but I'd guess it to be maybe 6 feet. That could be a problem if you want to use it in a place without an outlet handy, but a cheap extension cord solved that problem for me. (Incidentally, there is no grounding prong on the plug, so you can use a 2-hole extension cord if necessary.)The pole has a decent amount of extension to it; I'd say you can adjust the height by about a foot and a half. At its tallest, from base to motor is (again, this is an estimate) probably 4-1/2 feet. This makes it pretty versatile; you can stand it on the floor or shorten it and put it on a (large) table. At full length, though, that also makes it a bit top-heavy. It's fine if you leave it alone, but the cat knocked it over when I first put it together and now he's scared of it.It's loud. Even on low it's pretty loud, compared to what I remember my last box fan sounding like. It doesn't bother me at all, but if you're someone looking for a fan for your bedroom, and you need quiet to sleep, you probably won't like this.Seriously, I have a hard time imagining a fan with this small a footprint with as much power as this one has. I wish the cord were a bit longer, like I said, but that's really my only complaint. When the air conditioner died, it was a real lifesaver!

Like a Cold Hurricane
This fan is PHENOMENAL. We purchased it on a whim for my teenage son. I quickly realized that it was the strongest stand fan I’ve ever seen. On the lowest setting it was stronger than our old fan. The highest setting feels like a cold hurricane. I loved it so much, that when we needed a garage fan we bought another one of these. They don’t look fancy (plastic), but it’s seriously the best fan. The only downside is it’s not the quietest fan in the world. It’s not rickety or anything like that; the sound is truly coming from the force of the wind. I would buy this again and again (and have).

Fantastic fan for the money.
It’s loud but that’s why we got it, to help drown out noise while we sleep. It does a great job pushing air and it’s got adjustable height. My only concern when I got it was that a lot of parts were made of cheap plastic. That does make it lighter when moving it around but understand the durability is heavily compromised because of this. I’m writing this review after exactly 2 years of heavy use each day. Today the fan broke. First the large plastic nut that screws the fan blade in stripped out, then the housing for what holds the fan blades in place completely broke apart. It can no longer spin without these parts in tact. Honestly with the amount of hours we’ve used this, $40 is money well spent. If you don’t run the fan for 18 hours a day for 2 years straight, it’ll probably last much longer. None of my “nicer” $80 fans lasted much longer either, so that being said, I’ll be ordering another one just like this, because up until now, it hasn’t had one single issue.

Pretty Durable Fans
Me and the wife have had about five of these fans for the past 32 years. We just can not sleep without a fan blowing on us. The one that I just got, is to replace the veteran of the bunch. He looked well used and abused. He was missing his motor cover and the ossilating arm was missing (all this due to falling out of the truck going about 90 on I-35). The clicky thing that held the fan in position quit clicking years ago so I bought a cheep pair of vice grips to do the job and they did it well. The Vet was left out by the pool on several occasions and got rained on several times and for good measure, to make sure it was dried, it sat in the Texas sun to cook for several hours. So needless to say that these fans are pretty tuff.We got the new one this morning in a rain soaked box and it didnt even phase me. I knew it would be just fine. In fact it made it easier to get to the fan. I had it together and running in about 2 minutes. It seems to run just fine and is much quieter than the Vet. But then again in about 10 years with the same abuse we gave it this will be just like him.So overall this are good durable fans.

decent fan for it's size and price
Pros:the assembly was easy enough, blows a good amount of air, affordable price compared to other fans in it's sizeCons:the fan over all construction is cheap and flimsy feeling because its mostly plastic, with only the rod stand being made of metal, it's very noisy and has an annoying choppy sound when I have the oscillation mode on

Great value and quality.
Got the old version for more than 6 years and now got this one as well. Speed and functionality is amazing.
