Great value for price
I purchased this unit for my 14 year old Volvo S70. I'd typically go with something more high end, but frankly, I had a kind of freakish curiosity that perhaps I could get everything I needed without shelling out big money on a name-brand head unit. Perhaps I could save myself some money and still be satisfied. While lower price may mean "lower quality", it is important to consider the value you get for your money. Don't expect this unit to have the features and finish of a $900 head unit, because you are not paying $900 for it.That being said, for the price, I have not seen anything better. I've installed stereos on a variety of vehicles over the years, so I installed this unit myself in the garage. It took me about 15 minutes because I used an adapter harness that was made for my car. Everything was plug and play. I tested the head unit by plugging it in and going through all of the functions before doing the final install. It is worth noting that once installed, this unit, even with screen retracted, will stick out at least 3/4 of an inch from your dash/console. This is just how it is designed, and it allows for clearance of the screen when it comes out. The screen itself is what you would expect for a head unit at this price. It is clear, and the touch screen is accurate (you can calibrate it through the menu), but again, do not expect iPad quality visuals. It is suitable for watching videos, but the resolution isn't going to blow anyone away. The screen comes out and retracts with the push of a button, it is nice and smooth, and the speed that it opens and closes seems suitable. This unit loads CDs and starts playing songs very quickly, much more quickly than an OEM unit.Bluetooth is the best feature thus far on this unit. It would be foolish not to order this unit with bluetooth. I'm pairing the unit with my LG Optimus G Pro phone (Android), and the unit and phone have no trouble communicating. Once the phone and head unit are paired, you can make calls, scroll through your contact list, but most importantly of all, you can stream MP3s from your phone directly to the head unit, just as if you had a USB or DVD full of songs inserted. The interaction between phone and the head unit is fast and seamless. The overall finish of this unit is glossy piano black, and it doesn't look too "cheap". The controls are intuitive, and it comes with a remote, which I assume is for the people sitting in the back, or person in the passenger seat. Remote is decent; basically what you'd expect on a unit of this price. All of the buttons are the same size, so you have to look at the remote while using it instead of just being able to "feel" for the correct button. The LCD display on the front of the unit (while the screen is retracted) displays in simple light blue color, which in my opinion, makes it look much less cheesy than some expensive units that light up in pink/red/green/blue etc. The front LCD is simple and easy to use at first glance. The whole system is fairly self explanatory, and most people would probably be able to figure out most of the functions without even looking at the instruction booklet.I gave this unit five stars, because for the price, I cannot find any fault with it. It definitely exceeded my expectations for a unit of this price.

Highly Recommended
Update: Still love the unit, but I have discovered there is about a 10 second delay from when I shift into reverse until the camera turns on and the image comes up. Under normal routine conditions, by the time the image displays on the screen I am done reversing. It works it you shift into reverse, wait 10 seconds. and then start moving. Still give the product a mythical 6 rating.1 month update:Still very happy with the unit. Now have installed a back up camera. Very very cool to see the unit come to life, flip up the screen, and display the scene behind the car when shifting into reverse. It was a bit of work to install the camera and run the cables to the head unit. It took a couple of hours, but well worth the effort.Only 1 minor problem. I have upgraded from Droid to IPhone 5 since I installed the unit.. The Bluetooth connection isn't quite as smooth as it was with the Droid. The Acoustik tries unsuccessfully to download the IPhone phone book. It take the unit about a minute to go through its routine before it gives up. There might be a slight compatibility issue between the Acoustik and IPhone 5 (which is also very very cool). However, the Acoustik also works very well as the hand free speaker/microphone. Much better than the dedicated Jabra hands-free that I was using. So after a month I am upping the rating to a 6. Still an incredible value (I bought for $166).The one feature that the Acoutik does not have is the radio information scroll some other radio have that provides the station name and often the name of the song. Too bad because it would seem such a simple feature to add. But still, the unit looks and sounds great none the less. This unit has far exceeded my expectations.original review:I was persuaded to try this unit by all of the great reviews, but was I highly skeptical. And then the box came in with graphics that I swear only a 16-year old kid could dream up (smoking skulls with wings!!??) and a broken-English instruction/installation manual that added to my reservations about the product. I almost decided to return it be fore putting it in. I am glad I didn't.VERY NICE UNIT with GREAT sound (and I am very picky about sound systems). I am not sure how it is possible, but the sound from the radio is soooo much better than the premium Infinity system I replaced. Very intuitive controls, both manual and on-screen. Bluetooth paired up right away and continues to sync up every time I get in the car with my Droid. I haven't installed the back up camera yet because the installation manual was wrong, I later found a separate installation sheet tucked in with the warranty info.I installed the unit myself in about 3 hours. I strongly suggest that you purchase a wiring adapter that will plug right into the existing wiring connector from Crutchfield ([...]) when you order the PTID unit. Note: I suggest using the 'chat' with the staff' option on the Crutchfield website to track down the correct adapter They were great. This adapter will allow you to keep the original wiring, which keeps things much cleaner, and make it much easier to wire. I wired the adapter to the head unit in my kitchen and then carried the whole ready-to-plug-in unit down to the garage and just plugged it in. Much, much easier than trying to connect the wires when in the dash board.Like all flip-up screen units, the head unit does stick out about an inch from the dash board to accommodate the flip-up screen. It does look a little weird sticking out like that, but it doesn't look bad. In fact when on it looks pretty good.I have seen similar units for anywhere from $300 to $600. So for $166 this product is an absolute bargain. With the self-installation ($200) I figure I just got an $800 unit for les than $200. It was a good day.

Might be worth buying a 3rd....
Pros: screen hides away when not in use.Cons: 2nd of this model purchased, would get a better rating & would purchase a 3rd if seller would reply at all.Ist time I bought thruWallmart. I've owned & lost at least 20 decks in my lifetime. This is a low priced model with very basic functionality, removable face & tucks its' double din screen into a single din slot & gives an extra doored cubby to use in it's place. When faceplate was stolen from my bag, & I couldn't get manufacturer to reply to my inquiries about a replacement, I guessed faceplates are removable as deterrent only, NOT to prevent repurchase. So I purchased a 2nd deck from Amazon JUST for a NEW FACEPLATE! When 2nd face(1st deck was stolen,) knowing that I have a brand new deck (without a face plate) sitting in the Box I will not replace it by ordering a third, Because manufacturer, has never replied to a phone call, an email, & with this low end basic model(not why it keeps getting stolen, just that I live in a city, that's why I buy cheap)it's not like they don't have a stockpile of these collecting dusts, have no need to just sell a face place wait for someone who's has the plate but no deck, know nothing of customer loyalty. So im shopping for bt speakers leaving a hole in my dash!
