Moen YB2208ORB Brantford Double Post Spring-Loaded Toilet Paper Holder, Oil-Rubbed Bronze

After doing a lot of research I knew I wanted to have all Moen features in my bathroom when I remolded it. I'm very happy with all of the products and Moen is what my contractor recommended.

I like Moen, and this time I bought several paper and towel holders. I too don't like the mounting system, but it does work. I had to remove the original bars (new to this house when built just 3 months ago, just didn't like the chrome look those had) but the mounting for those was far superior, two screws into the drywall, and a good bracket to mount the bar to (These were Moen's also, just a different style). Moen uses a cheaper click on style I am not too fond of, but so far it works. But the other mounting system was a little wider in width, so the plastic screw holders show when the new Moen goes on the wall, but not by much, maybe a third of the screw holder diameter, which when touched up with paint, it is almost not visible at all.But, this is not the reason I don't like this paper holder, and will return it. The bar the paper roll goes on comes apart as soon as you remove it to replace the paper roll. When I took it out of the box, it all sprang apart, and when I test it taking a cardboard tube off, it all falls apart in your hands, and to the floor. Not something I want to do every time I change a roll. The one I removed from the wall stays together as it should, the two tubes have a small crimp which prevents the two tubes from coming apart, this Moen doesn't, it is just two tubes slid together with a long spring inside.I believe this is probably defective, as I have not heard of others complaining about this.Update: 12-28-12 It isn't defective, apparently, it is just the design of this particular paper holder. I contacted Moen and they were very helpful, really, helpful. They said they are looking into re-designing the holder to be a swing or hinged type. They said when they get the design done, they will send me one. It wasn't too long before I received a new one with the new swing up bar, all the while, they sent me updates about every 4 or 5 days. This is really great customer service. The paper holder wasn't exactly like the one in this review, and I didn't expect it to be as they told me ahead of time it is not the same, but very close. The new one went in my 3rd guest bathroom upstairs, however, as the spacing on the new one is about an inch wider than the present one, and I really didn't want to re-drill and patch the other holes. No big deal, I can live with the other one as I have gotten used to it, but the new one I really like. I will post a picture of the new one as it is such an innovation, and I really like it. I have also upgraded my star rating partly because I now know it wasn't defective (just not a good design), but the customer service was the best I have had from any company, and that says a lot.5-1-16 update.I still love the new one they sent me, and the older one (Brantford) is still going strong, never had it fall apart when changing. We are careful I guess, or have just gotten used to it. I did promise some pictures of the new replacement, the Banbury pivoting holder, so have added them in now. This is one nice holder. It swivels up effortlessly, and the weight of the roll keeps it down. It does take some careful measuring, if I remember right, when installing, but nothing too hard.

I needed several of these for a new house. They look great and went up easily. The only drawback is that it has the old-fashion spring-loaded center bar that holds the TP in place. Those springs are so strong/tight that some of our older family members don't have the hand strength needed to get them out. I'm going to have to replace at least one of these with a different holder where the center bar just flips up and down.

I have a power drill, but I barely know how to use it, so this review is for very un-handy people like me. I followed the mounting instructions perfectly (I also checked the video embedded here for guidance) and the installation just didn't work. One possible reason is that I installed this toilet paper roll into a wood vanity, not drywall. But no matter what I tried, I could not get the mount to fit snugly and securely against the wood surface. Finally, I removed the mounting bracket and went to the hardware store and bought a nut and washer and just secured the mount with the screw, nut and washer, omitting the mounting bracket entirely. That was how I got a relatively tight fit. I was working by myself, so I didn't have anyone to hold the screw still while I tightened the nut with a wrench, but it's probably good enough.There are a few of reasons why I don't recommend buying this. The first is that the 6.25 inch width is wider than usual, so if you drill holes and realize you are in over your head, everything else you would replace it with will not cover the holes. That was why I went to the hardware store rather than buy one of the self-adhesive rolls sold here on Amazon. The other reason is that the instructions are not thorough enough and don't come with illustrations (they are likely meant for professional installers, like home renovators, not civilians), and the video attached here is not specific to this roll. The third reason is that the roll itself is not held together securely - if you drop it when you change rolls, it will break apart into three pieces and need to be reassembled. There is nothing holding it together. because of the unusual, nonstandard length, you can't really replace it with anything better, either.Because I drilled the holes and there was no going back, I have a very delicately mounted roll with a roller that breaks apart if handled clumsily. I really regret installing it, and hope I can keep it from falling apart. If you aren't comfortable with a drill and know how to troubleshoot hardware problems (like me), i really encourage you to look at the self adhesive toilet rolls on Amazon. One has 450 reviews averaging close to five stars, so that might be a much better bet than this.

Easy for a novice to install. Really nice finish. Would buy again.

I have been in the process of changing out all of the bathroom fixtures in our house using Moen brushed nickel products. As it turns out all of the other Moen fixtures towel bars and towel rings used industry standard metal mounting brackets. The toilet paper holders on the other hand use a plastic holder with which you snap the holder brackets to. The problem is that if you happen to lean on them they come loose and fall down. I like how they look but will forever need to be careful when using them.

Love the sturdiness. Easy to install, used the same screw holes from the previous holder.I do not love the color, but decided to keep because it was still an upgrade. It’s very speckled and I personally prefer the brushed look with the oil rubbed bronze. If I had realized that when ordering I wouldn’t have picked it.

Really nice fixture, but the anchors provided were a bit challenging to use. The first attempt at mounting one of the anchors resulted in bending it. Would have been nice if Moen could have provided one extra anchor for boo boos. Once installed the unit is very secure and nice looking.
