Baxton Studio Mid-Century Masterpieces Sofa, Brown, Sofa Only

After reading all the reviews, I sort of doubted this product's quality, assembling it, and the delivery. BUT, now that it arrived yesterday on August 28th (Tuesday), I am SUPER happy and FULLY content. Everything looks and feels better in person. The pictures do this product no justice. It came in less than a week with the free-shipping method order to Sacramento, California. It comes in two boxes: 1 the size of a coffin, and the other the size of a large pillow. Whew. Be very careful when you cut open the 2 boxes, tapes, and straps. Because you might cut into the woods or cushions. Proceed with mind and patience, NOT excitement and haste! That's my philosophy. I looked at the directions (1 sheet with pictures & nothing else: super vague) and assembled everything within 10 minutes EASILY, and I have ZERO mechanical or handyman experience. I'm just 1 hell of a super brilliant genius! It comes with 5 parts: two wooden handles, 1 long front wooden bar, and two cushions (seat and back-rest). Although I did it all on my own, I highly recommend 2 people because the cushions are heavy. On accident, I ripped the see-through sheet cover on the bottom of the cushion seat. I just tapped it back on, or you can staple it back on. To put this together, you need to lay it on the cardboard or carpet, in order to not damage it. Make sure the medal bracket's ("Bran Nut," according to the drawing) plain side (only 2 sides) are inserted inward into the wooden drill hole on the large wooden piece that holds the two arm handles together. Thus, the other side of the medal bracket with the horizontal ridge indented into it (in order to stick a flat-head screw driver) is sticking outward toward you, where you can see it, once this is placed into the long wooden bar ("Apron," according to the drawing). After this difficult and confusing part of the instruction, the rest is plain common sense. This is a "dark brown." But to me, it's basically black. I honestly can't tell the difference, even with the blinds wide open and in broad daylight! It's a black 3-seater couch, and it's happening! If you buy the chair along with the couch, the instructions and parts for the chair are IDENTICAL to the couch. The only difference is that the cushions on the chair are a lot smaller than the couch. But other than that, everything else is identical, exactly. Super genius of the designer (s)! The couch is large enough for 3 people to sit on, as you can see me sitting on it in the two pictures. I'm 5'6" & 140 lbs. It is low to the ground, lower than my wooden coffee table (as show in the picture), which makes it easier to get off of. Do not buy pillows. That's hideous. Always leave things in their original condition: as plain & simple as possible. In my world, everything is black & white: That's the color of "conviction" or "confidence." This is a solid, sturdy couch. It should last for decades to come (the frame's forever & cushions: at least 5 years). It's definitely not for lounging around, but for formal guests visiting and conversing for a couple of hours. There is no possibility of the cushion seat falling out. That's impossible and stupid, as some reviewers claim! There're two large, half-dollar-sized-coin bracket that are pre-attached to the bottom of the cushion seat to prevent such an incident. The only way the cushion seat can fall out is if you're jumping on the very edge of the seat. But who does that, other than a monkey? I would definitely purchase this set again in a heart beat! I love how formal and sophisticated it looks for the 3-seater couch. I bought my Ikea KLIPPAN 2-seater couch for nearly $400 in 2013! Here, I get a 3 seater-couch & club chair for just about the same price! I would not get the Braxton 2-seater couch. It's not worth it--better to get the 3-seater instead! I freaking love, love Amazon! Great job, guys! In a couple of months, I'll order another identical club chair! I am very, very happy: I did my research--reading the reviews multiple times over fully and entirely, staring at all the photos for hours per day, shopping around for almost 2 weeks online and in person. Success is a system, and it only goes in this order: 1. mind 2. patience. 3. conviction. This Baxton Studio Mid-Century Masterpieces couch and club chair: 1. match 2. fit and 3. in original condition (plain & simple design); that's my philosophy! Be grateful, not hateful. No one will mistake this sofa for an expensive , designer piece. It looks "not expensive" due to the shiny "leather" and dimunitive proportions That said, it was super easy to assemble, very sturdy and seems to be comfortable . You will not regret the purchase

Work in progress here. Other 2 pieces I bought are terrific, this one had 2 small holes in the seat. No problem returning, will send in much more positive review (I'm sure!) as soon As I get the new couch.

I returned the couch because It didn't seem sturdy enough to support 2 adults. There is nothing holding the bottom cushion in place, it just rests on the frame and I was worried it would slip or break. The couch was very stylish and it looked great, but I don't think it would stand up to daily use.

Great looking sofa! It was just what we were looking for. It is a light duty piece of furniture and I wouldn't recommend it for heavy use by large adults, but it's well made and doesn't feel cheap at all. Very happy with this purchase.

The sofa looks good and doesn't hold on to the dog hair like fabric. However in regular cleaning of the seams in the sofa with a vacuum the cushion surface was ruined. The short 30 day warrantee means the cost for replacement is about half the cost couch. I'd rather invest in a product that can withstand standard wear and cleaning.

This couch is solid. We've had it for a few months and the quality of the build is much better than expected. The size is closer to a love seat, definitely check the actual dimensions, the photos can be misleading. We're going to get the loveseat and chair to complete the set. Worthwhile purchase.

I love how this looks, and have gotten so many compliments on it from clients and friends. It is comfortable for relatively short periods of sitting like an hour or two and it is easy to clean. One thing that did come up was that it initially came with the wrong parts (screws and instructions) so I had to contact the manufacturer who directed my to the Amazon people to fix that little problem. The customer service was very nice and helpful, they knew exactly what was wrong even though I did not. I will warn you, the instructions are super ambiguous and not entirely correct. With a little trial and error we were able to figure it out. Also, for optimal ease of assembly, you may want three people, one on each side to screw things in and one to keep things steady and grab parts/tools. I was also concerned about it being solid and sturdy. To ensure the seat would stay put I used some velcro strips on the underside of the seat and the inner part of the brace. It's been working great so far. I have yet to test It out with some of my little clients though. Overall, great piece for the price with a couple of minor hiccups putting it together.
