A must have
I liked this product, very easy, small in size, light weight, crisp prints ,reasonable price and medium-low consumable cost. All components came in white (cable, printer and adapter) and looks Appleish style.I searched every where for good thermal printer and took lot of time till I decided to buy SELPHY 800. You can print without software installation. the software that came with the printer is not that much complicated (straight forward) but you can't change the date/time format from the the supplied software so you should do it from the printer itself. you will get only 5 papers pack and one ink cartridge for 5 prints. the lcd could be more clear than this but still did the job.I recommend this printer for home and office uses.

Go to Walmart for your prints
No longer use it, cost of printing too much

Won't work with IPhone!!!
According to several reviews for the Canon BU-30 Bluetooth Adapter for PIXMA MX850 that's required to make this printer connect to other devices via Bluetooth, it isn't compatible with IPhone. This is flat-out false advertising, if you ask me. This Amazon page says 'Print directly from your memory cards, compatible digital camera, USB Flash Drive or wirelessly from a Bluetooth enabled device' (and it's not even clear that you have to lay out an extra $50 for the adapter to make that work).Literally millions of people own IPhones, including myself. I ordered this product as a Gold Box special thinking (thanks to the misleading product description) that I'd use it around the house to print out photos from my phone. Good thing I procrastinated in ordering ink, paper and other supplies.I'll return it as soon as it gets here.EDIT: There's a Canon IPhone app that makes it possible for a person to print to a Canon printer from IPhone, but the list of supported Canon printers **does NOT include** the Selphy series. For more information on the handful of Canon printers that *are* supported by this app, search for "Canon" on the Apple Store. Update: I finally ordered an HP printer, which prints like a charm from the IPhone using the 'Print' button in the phone's browser.EDIT, April 2011: Edit to address issues with people who don't think it's important that this printer doesn't work as advertised: This item says very clearly in its description that you can print from a mobile device using Bluetooth. If it's not compatible with a device that currently has over 25% of the smartphone sales in the U.S., that information should be available up front, not buried in fine print. I suspect you'd feel differently if if you personally ordered this device, only to find it didn't work as advertised and you then had to go to the trouble - and pay the shipping - to send it back. I'd want someone to warn ME if the item description contained a substantial portion of misleading information, but if you think that's "unhelpful" then hit that button if you must.

Film Ink system has flaws
Received this printer as a gift and loved the quality of the photos UNTIL one of the ink cartridges developed a problem. This printer uses a layered film system which produces great color but if a piece breaks off there is nothing you can do. I took it to a friend who knows small electronics and they took it apart and pulled out several tiny pieces of the film that had broken off. They cleaned the machine and I took it home and put in a new cartridge and it happened again. I now have a box of film and paper and no printer. Another bad feature is it also uses special paper so you have to buy the paper/ink combo packs.

So convenient, excellent quality
I got tired of uploading photos to the local Walgreens photo site and then going to pick them up (I'm not lazy, I promise, just wanted a more convenient option for printing photos). The cost per photo might be slightly higher using this canon printer, but I could not be happier. I no longer have to spend the time and gas and deal with the occasional irritation resulting from the Walgreens employees that pretend like they don't see me when I'm standing at the photo counter. Not to mention putting the baby in the car, dragging him in the store, and then back in the car just to pick up photos. This little printer is great. I can't tell any difference in quality, other than that you're using the photo paper with perforated ends that you break off, so the edges of the photo aren't quite as smooth as what you'd get at the local printer that you use. Not really noticeable unless you're looking for it though. I have printed directly from the card and the computer and both worked great. No need to install the Canon software, just add the printer and you're ready to go. The photos print fast--as simple as popping the memory card in, selecting your photos and hitting the print button (rather than transferring to computer, uploading to photo center website, driving to pick up, etc.). I have always loved Canon's printers and this one did not let me down.

Cracking little photo printer
There is nothing difficult about this printer. Unboxing and set up was easy. The software, unlike with many printers, isn't overly bad (even on a Mac), and the print quality is fantastic. The fact that it comes in a small form factor is a bonus. Yes, the replacement cartridges aren't cheap, but they are worth it for the results. I would buy one again.
